>>56642821as somebody who only really cares about the single player, I actually agree. I think one of the major problems the franchise has right now is that it's being pulled in two different directions. you have the competitive fanbase who only care about battling/pvp, and you have a more casual audience who want a fun single player experience. the two can't coexist without one or more likely both aspects suffering. the single player experience has been abysmal for years as it's been neglected to focus on battling, but they can't get rid of it altogether because it would alienate casual fans and kids trying to enter into the franchise. at the same time, the battle system is outdated and frankly turn based combat isn't really a draw to anybody in 2024 except for people who are already invested in it. but they can't overhaul the combat either, because of those competitive fans who are invested. so they keep shoving in these gimmicks to try and make the battles more appealing to kids and casual fans, but then that makes the pvp meta an unstable mess. it's really a double-bind scenario that GF has gotten themselves into. I've watched this happen to other games, it's inevitable when you try to appeal to two totally different audiences.
they need to either pick a lane and stick with it, at the risk of alienating a large part of their audience in favour of another. or, they need to split the games into two separate streams. one, a battle simulator that's maintained for pvp. and two, a series of games that focus solely on single player.
