I've long had the theory that Mewtwo's base stats come from it's human DNA

Pokemon barely has a developed mythology, which makes it surprising already that they have an actual elaborate story about the origin of the world.
That the other thing they bothered at all involved pokemon and humans mating(which would obviously never make it into the game) is the actual issue.
