I got memed into playing SMT V by Dexit faggots. I did enjoy the gameplay and the aesthetics are top notch along with a soundtrack that's better than anything in Pokemon, but the demons themselves hardly matter. A good chunk of them are anime girls, and I get it's based on mythology and all but I found there was little for me to relate to. Unlike Pokemon you also can't just try to win with your favorites, your guys will fall behind eventually and you will have to fuse them. There's also nothing to distinguish a demon from another one of the same kind, while Pokemon have OT, caught dates and place, ribbons, marks, size, shinyness, caught ball and all sorts of stuff that make it feel like it's not just another cog in the machine.
