Sparking Zero sold over 3 million copies in a day so it'd be stupid of nintendo not to tap in on the fighting game train especially since they wont make another ssb for a few more years

what killed pokken was their stupid refusal to commit to one gameplay style instead of the phase shift mechanic. they wanted to please both the tekken crowd and the casual arena brawler players and ended up pleasing neither. plus, that mechanic killed local play and made tournaments a bitch to run

Tekkenfags aren't interested in Pokemon aside popular culture normies who saw the first season of the anime and want to see Pikachu shot up.
Casuals rather have either Smash or an actual Pokemon fighting sim that isn't too complex like Pokemon's battle formula. Most importantly, they just want to see their favorites in a tussle like with Smash autists too.
