I grew up with gen 1, stopped caring when gen 2 came out, started caring again when gen 3 came along, then dropped pokemon entirely for the next 10 years, then started caring again out of nostalgia. If I'm a 'true' pokemon fan, then I am flaky as fuck. You should respect the fags who stuck with it the whole time more.

even though i watched the first anime when it aired day 1, and even though the first game i actually played was silver, i still self identify as a hoennfag because it was the first game i actually owned myself rather than having to borrow it.
kanto outside of the anime never really appealed to me for some reason.

I don't like the switch games but my nephew does and we bond talking about our Pokemon likes and dislikes. The only people who are not true fans are those that deny others for the games they enjoy.
