The pokemon anime is such a strange aberration as far as japanese media is concerned. Most anime progresses the time scale every couple of seasons or, in the case of live action like super sentai, get new protagonists every year.

They did announce ash retirement a season before it happened and gave him that season to get some closure. Only some minor stuff from the concepts of horizons got changed in the end

Nope, I don't remember SM ever announcing Ash's retirement. The leak talk about strong female protagonist yet the series introduced a freaking weak willed doormat with no drive to win, it speaks about coordination with anime & game releases yet the anime air five months after SV series, it also speaks about giving proper conclusion yet MPM did absolutely nothing to conclude the show. They haven't even given any conclusions to Team Rocket.

Everything OP mentioned is the complete opposite of the anime actually did

That has more to do with there being too many hands to pass through. TPC takes everything and overly sanitizes it before it reaches the public, which can kill a lot of the sincerity and self-awareness.

The worst part of the anime is that it ended too late. If they had gotten rid of Ash at any point before SM we could've had the possibility of a better anime.
Instead they stuck with him until way beyond the point the franchise had reached a terminal state of cancer.
