At this point I’ve played Gens 3, 4 & 5 so much they’re like comfort food. Any other game isnt just competing with 10 year old childhood memories but even more memories I made with them down the line, so yeah, i don’t think I can get the same SOVL feeling out of the newer games.
But I’ve played a good deal of rom hacks that still deliver what I like about those old games, they might not take me back in the same way, but they’re good fun.
Hell, I thought PLA was pretty good and SV was okay, a little flat but it rly picks up at the end.

Wrong my childhood gen was gen 1 & 2… gen 3, 4, 5, and 6 surpassed them. So did 7, 8, 9… but they did not surpass 3, 4, 5, and the best 6.

gen 3 was the last time pokemon was good
inb4 nostalgia, I can emulate every single game of every gen

gen 4 is playable but it's still not good, 50 ugly digimon legendaries, ugly pointless gross gen evos made isntead of buffing the shitty base pokemon

gen 5 is soulless slop circle region where 90% of the pokemon look like dogshit

3D generation onwards was the point of no return
