so they decided to port the most easy and laziest region they could find - kanto - and to make it in some way "new" they pandered to the pokemon GO hype.
after all the controvercies niantic did to their players I think even game freak realized this company is shit.
yes if you think gamefreak is bad, niantic is that times 10. GF does not want the main brand to mix with it again, just because it would do more negative to the brand than good at this point.
