Doing a chill monoghost run of Platinum with Spiritomb as my starter. Just started the game but I'm gonna try to make it to Floaroma Meadow today to get Drifloon. Come hang out! Post spooky images/music if you got it.

based ghostbro, have fun with your run. doesnt platinum give you access to basically every ghost in the pokedex, no trades needed? only one I can think of that maybe you cant get is sableye and shuppet

The first few routes are easy pickings for Devourer, as he eats the souls of all the helpless Normal types that can't even touch him. It'll be a while until he finds a friend but that's just the Mono Ghost lifestyle.

I believe I can't get Misdreavus, Sableye, Shuppet, or Shedinja but yeah I think this is one of the best early games for Mono Ghost.

Sorry about that. For some reason I always do all caps for games Gen 3 and before, and after that I stick with lowercase. If it means anything I still did uppercase trainer/rival names.

Full confession - I wiped to Roark first try. I think I would've won if I fucked around with Hypnosis less but I figured it was appropriate. That shit is not 60% accurate. I managed to beat him Round 2 despite missing 3/4 Hypnoses. This isn't a nuzlocke, death only makes the ghosts stronger.

We move on.

One of the tricky things about ghosts is that they live beyond the material plane and thus require hosts to perform corporeal activities. Thus, Spiritomb has possessed our first HM Soul.

We enter Floaroma Town, the town of flowers. Devourer is happy as that means more souls to eat - yes, flowers have souls too. We also run into some nasty villains which make Devourer even happier - souls of the wicked are especially tasty. A few of them carry Dark types which may be an issue later down the line...

We handle Mars' Purugly with little issue since all it has to hit us is a weak Faint Attack. Devourer also learns Dream Eater for shits and giggles. After devouring Mars' dreams he just wants more.

The daughter of the Valley Windworks boss says something about a balloon pokemon... Devourer has a mischievous glint in his eye...

Posters are scattered across the meadow reporting a missing girl. A strange balloon joins the team.

Perfect characteristic, btw.

We enter Eterna Forest, a delightfully dark and gloomy place that the ghosts are excited to visit. Did you know that Gastly only has a 4% encounter rate at all times? Could've sworn it was more common at night. Thankfully I don't have to worry about Cheryl murdering it with her stupid Chansey. Associating with a filthy cleric is the last thing a ghost team wants to do but she will help guide us through this forest. I thought PENNYWISE would be a liability but he's holding his own in trainer battles. With all this grinding he should be able to handle Gardenia no problem.
