If you think about it, this game has a high chance of being radically different than PLA. People keep trying to find patterns, but there's only ever been PLA so far.
For all we know, not only is the time period different, but the entire game mechanics are as well.
We know Megas are coming back, so if the game focused more on battling than catching, it wouldn't be crazy.
Finally, the game taking place entirely in one city is also very suspect. It could either be a translation error, or the city is way bigger than on the 3DS, which would mean it's set in the future.

It's not going to take place after XY unless it's literally thousands of years in the future that those details were lost to time. The only other option is that this is an alternate universe Lumiose, similar to how LGPE is an alternate universe Kanto.

not necessarily. the cities in game are obviously not scaled accurately. I think the fact that it's set in one city just means we're getting a more realistically scaled city and not the abstraction that was in XY, it doesn't indicate any actual growth of the city.

I agree though that it's stupid to draw patterns for this series already, especially when GF lately has been bucking a lot of patterns. personally, I think it's probably just set in the present.

not really, see above it just means the city is going to be a more accurate size than the scaled down cities we get in mainline games. the cities in universe don't literally have like, 4 houses like they do in game, it's just for gameplay purposes. they're much bigger than depicted.

Prism Tower is at more or less the same scale relative to the rest of the city between the XY and the trailer, so either the city is the same size and has just been made way more dense or we'll get to see extra boroughs or something outside the main city that weren't shown in the trailer.

Not only has this never been done, and never changed in any remake; more than anything, I don't think GF would do this because they're simply not good enough to model an entire city and have it run smoothly.
Look at the Academy "city" in SV. It has the advantage of being behind a load screen, yet it still runs terribly.

Also, there is no area in XY Lumiose where there is a bridge with a walkway underneath it.

Not true. They're basically sitting on an already-near-finished game that only needs localization checks and bugfixing that follows the usual production cycle. All that extra manpower is going towards Gen 10 in 2026, which is Pokemon's big Switch 2 debut and grand 30th Anniversary Celebration.

I have as little faith in GF as the next guy but obviously if the entire game is set in it they'll figure out a way to make it work

Mesagoza was its own zone, it was separated by a loading screen from the rest of the map. There was no excuse for it to run so badly.

Dude, it's not launching until next November, because they want to avoid a situation like what happened in 2015, where they had no game, were hamstrung on releasing new info (as it was all targeting the 20th anniversary in 2016) and allowed an also-ran series to catch some their market. As it stands and especially since we left may/june in the dust. they're content to burn out this year, before hitting the hype cycle for L: Z-A (hint: Don;'t expect chapter an verse right-out-the-gate, localisation only starts within the last 8-9 months of development, which is around Pokémon day, so we'll only be getting bare essentials still) and then the announcement of gen 10 for the 30th anniversary year.

I have no numbers to back it up either, but it has to be more than that, otherwise it wouldnt justify the cost of creating two separate games, shipments, not to mention doublepacks and steelbooks like theyve been doing for the last few gens. This CLEARLY means the game will be set in the far-future of Kalos, where they HAPPEN to wish the city to return to how it looked in the late 20th/early 21st century. Go eat glue elsewhere, we've enough retards as it is.

For what we know it could be the legend of the X&Y main character.

Legends isn't a series it's a STANDALONE game.

We aren't sure it's an A-RPG yet it could be a city builder.
