It has a lot more content then Sword and Shield with 8 Gyms, 5 'Villain Leaders' and 5 'Titan Pokemon'. The game ditches the route puzzles and trainer battles are more something you got to hunt for instead of being caught and forced to battle before you can pass.
The story is enjoyable, the characters are likable and it doesn't feel like there is a really dumb reason to push the plot that much. But it is perhaps the game with the least amount of actual Pokemon Battles and it's mostly a breezy game if you do force yourself into encounters.
The graphics are kinda shite and it was buggy at launch, but like... So was the original Red and Blue and people here keep sucking dick for Charizard.
If you want a game you can run around and find the Pokemon you want to try using where you can quite literally "Go anywhere"; then get it. It's gonna suffer the same issues open world games like Skyrim and Breath of the Wild suffer however, but it's atleast fun if you are wanting to make it fun
