>>56750875>Why does Pokemon have that weird fake alphabet in their recent media? It's to cut down cost and dev time on localization. The anime has had it since Gen 4 and the games started theirs in Gen 6 with the simultaneous worldwide releases. It got noticeable when the series hit the Switch thanks to the higher resolution and the text being more in your face.
My problem with it is how it's been used. Aside from alphabet correlation (Alphabet introduced in BDSP used as Japanese, alphabet introduced in SWSH used as Latin, etc.), there's little consistency, making the world look worse for those who care for all the little details of a fictional setting.
>>56751361I can near 100% blame the introduction of fake alphabet on 4Kids, they were egregious on edits in the early-mid 2000s and Pokémon was no exception. I knew how bad it got and I'm still baffled by the edit shown in that image.
>>56752392Not as blatantly set in the real world compared to Gen 1 which flat out mentioned real world locations and events.
