>Ethan is your typical shoto protagonist, but is more level headed and responsible than someone like Ash, almost a Leonardo or a Robin type>Buggsy is slightly immature and excitable, but has some nerdy/hippie-dippy tendencies>Whitney is a diva like Misty but with the hopeless romantic aspect from Brock, running gag is how she's always hunting for a boyfriend (she eventually ends up with Ethan)>Ethan's ace is Totodile, loves clowning around and constantly embarrasses his trainer (but becomes more serious as it evolves)>Buggsy's ace is Spinarak, the clueless and adorable team mascot (until it evolves and becomes a Charmeleon/Grovyle 2cool4school type)>Whitney's Miltank is the team mom, constantly used in running gags and keeping all the other Pokemon in line>Krysta functions like a benevolent Gary Oak, an insufferable go-getter who has a knack for breaking Ethan's composure>Silver works more or less like Paul did, he's a legit dickhead who mistreats his Pokemon, but he gets a series-long redemption arc where he eventually helps the gang take down his dad before taking a sabbatical to the Dragon's Den and returning as a serious contender for the League arc>Elm continues the classic running gag of "whenever we cut back to his lab there's a new Pokemon beating his ass"
