Bede is a jerk who gets a comeuppance and accepts a new Type specialty while Marnie goes from aiming for Champion to settling for Gym Leader/taking over her brother's shop.

They're not very interesting ones but they have a place for how things start and where they end up going.

You need to understand how fucking PAINFUL every other character in SWSH other than Marnie and sometimes Sonia were to understand why Marnie was popular.

Have a personality, arc, and design that wasn't *actively torture* and generally meant nobody else was fucking involved half the time made her an oasis and shelter from the abject fucking agony that was the rest of that generation except for the few bits where her brother was on screen to make your eyes bleed.
