You can face Red in B2W2 along with many notable trainers from other regions. I think it would have been cool but it really isn’t needed. The only thing Gen 5 was missing is Ribbons.

Agreed, gen 5 not having any new ribbons is probably its greatest flaw.

Didn’t HGSS only have 1 new ribbon, the one you get after beating Red? Ribbons really fell off after DPP sadly.

Yeah, people forget this point. I'm pretty sure it's been stated officially that N and the protag have been busy looking for each other, so the protag of BW1 hanging around Unova makes no sense.

Gen’s 6 and 7 had ribbons again. I think at the very least beating a league should give you a ribbon. Gen 3 shares the league ribbon so you can beat the elite four in either Kanto or Hoenn for it. Beating Red in HGSS does indeed give you a special ribbon, the Legend Ribbon. I’m also a fan of the marks they introduced in Gen 8

Actually gen 5 introduced some good ribbons but they were event only. In fact it introduced more ribbons then the games that came after it. Now they've been pretty much replaced with marks.
I don't see it as a flaw, ribbons are boring collectathons and only some are particularly interesting or challenging to get. I prefer ribbons being unique things to get for different pokemon then have 1 with 50 of them. Something like the surprise trade only ribbon, which you can't even get

I wish there was more in game events like facing Red that gave you a ribbon. When you face Cynthia in BW you should’ve gotten a special ribbon for that since you’re basically facing off against a random boss fight. I’m almost positive when i encountered her the first time my team was switched around so I was not prepared at all

In my version of B2W2 that does not exist, the protagonist from the first game becomes the leader of Team Plasma and conquers Unova and is the final boss/champion. Atleast that way he is different from just being Red but again.

BW Protag should've been in the Nature Preserve, it feels like the exact kind of place they'd check to try and find N since it's a literal isolated Pokemon sanctuary far away from Unova and untouched by man outside of preserving it.

i gaslit myself into thinking a similar encounter to this was real for years, i distinctly remembered in the post-game walking past that cliff, the camera stopping and panning up and hilbert is there, then he walks off and after that he's unlocked in the PWT. it was just a mod that was very similar, but i don't remember watching any video about it at all.
