I care more about the Pokemon. The humans are just extensions of the Pokemon for me. The people that care more about the humans are usually dumb coomers, but that's not to say there aren't of course furries and whatever that think the same way of the Pokemon, but it's just an observation that the ones that focus more on humans are really only here for what they could be doing instead in most other franchises what with overfocusing on how attracted they are to them.

Definitely untrue, you're just desensitized or don't acknowledge the Pokemon focus for whatever reason. If they stopped caring about the Pokemon they wouldn't be introducing new gimmicks and variants and textures and elements of immersion for them. If they stopped caring about them they wouldn't bother to do things like giving Mandibuzz its own nest in ID or giving custom swim animations to certain Pokemon like Blastoise and Paldean Tauros-Aqua. To gloss over considerations like these is to live in a bubble that makes it seem like you only pay attention to things that support your own pre-established agenda, or perhaps one that was manufactured for you to buy into by outrage specialists.

Maybe you don't realize this, but you can increase how much you do with humans without abandoning the Pokemon. To say they don't care just because they wanted to do a new approach for the NINTH generation of Pokemon is to be really close-minded considering it's expected they'll be throwing a lot of different things as we get more and more games.

Voice acting is trash, you losers want to bog the games down with unnecessary shit that'd just cause more complaining because they won't always shell out for the best VAs. Pokken had VAs and many people muted it because it was awful. Masters does VAing because it's a hollow game with barely anything to offer that had to even issue an apology letter to the playerbase in its first month online, and has its own share of awful voices.

People love to ignore the fact that GameFreak, if forced to include voice acting, will go for the absolute cheapest option possible by making its cast consist entirely of Z-listers from within TPC and TPCi, so the quality of the voice acting will be absolute dogshit.
Not only that, knowing how archaic the company is, they'll probably make it so you can't skip dialogue until the voice line is done playing, making the game horribly sluggish, or that you can't separate text language from voice language, so good fucking luck playing in English with a bunch of unskippable shitters following TPCi's infamous voice directions.

People do talk about Pokemon. It's just that it's not some easy feat to get fresh discussion about Pokemon day after day, month after month, year after year that can last. Reasonable threads have an endpoint and the book is closed on them. You know what doesn't have an endpoint? Warring, complaining, and drugging (i.e. coomposting/stimulating your own dopamine/serotonin releases). The problem then becomes that the people accustomed to talking about such things think it's their place and right to drown out any kind of real discussion, feeding into the already fleeting nature of that real discussion.

Because Iwao noted that the pitch from TPC went TOO FAR, the mainline games themselves have focused far more on the human aspects like the shitty bullying plot in SV. Plus him and Sugimori might be a few voices that don't like the human focus, the rest of Game Freak probably does want shitty Persona.

Did older gens care that much about the Pokemon though? I'd argue that characters like Nebby and Koraidon/Miraidon give at least some Pokemon more memorability and development than any individual Pokemon ever got in older games.

It's hilarious whenever there's a chat/video/live/etc reaction to Masters the audience is either quiet or groaning or waiting for it to pass to get to the next segment. It's sad that Pokemon partnered up with such a lazy low effort company. The only thing Masters will be remembered for after it's gone is the outfits yet they like to cut corners on them too much where they can like in your webm so it's not going to be that expansive of a legacy.

When Masters news gets on Presents, its players already know about all/most of it from datamine or dev reports since days, and other people mostly don't care at all so it's usually not news for anyone
Might be different outside of English-speaking fanbase though as for example Japan usually doesn't check out datamines for legal/moral reasons

Pokemon has become Digimon.
I love digimon but the focus from the fanbase has always been, ironically, the humans, because the digimon themselves have weird designs and are more like "characters" than "monsters"
