>>56796219Okay, that's good to know. I'll summarize the plot for you because it's important for understanding the appeal imo.
Kieran is basically immediately obsessed with you, to the point where it's kind of obvious that he's supposed to have a crush on (You). He admires you cause you're strong and confident - traits he really wished he had himself. He wants to stop being a shy wimp, always standing in the shadow of his big sister Carmine (who is partially responsible for his inferiority complex).
In the story, Kieran admires the ogre from the local legend. It is feared by the people in Kitakami because it killed 3 Pokémon a long time ago, and the 3 Pokémon were seen as heroes who protected them. He admires the ogre for being strong and not caring what others think about it.
Anyway, stuff happens, you go on a totally-not-date with Kieran to the local mask festival that honors the legends. Here, you and Carmine actually stumble upon the ogre, which is actually a Pokémon called Ogerpon. It loses its mask and runs away. Carmine is worried that Kiki will freak out if he finds out that not only the ogre is real, he also missed out on seeing it, so she forces you to not tell him about it. And this is the point where it all goes to shit.
Their grandpa tells you the truth about Ogerpon, which comes down to "it was actually good and the 3 other mons were assholes"
Kieran catches wind of the secret.. His attitude towards you grows increasingly cold. He feels shunned, excluded, ridiculued behind his back. And there is nothing you can do about it. The sweet, shy boy who was head over heels for you is growing bitter and jealous. He tries to fight for Ogerpon's admiration, but it is actually kind of a scaredy cat and has trouble trusting Kieran. He tries battling you for it for the "rights to keep it", but loses. He spirals down further, and with that, the first part of the DLC ends.
I could continue, but I think the first part of the DLC is the foundation of the Kiki appeal.
