The music, the story (still better even if flawed), and the SPRITES, my god, it's the only pokemon game where all the pokemon actually look mobile and dynamic.
But I'm also biased because those were the games I grew up with. I remember in summer camp we'd all bring our DS's and action replays, hack shiny legendary and have no-rules smackdowns. It was a blast. Sleep mechanics were broken in gen 5 so it always boiled down to whose Darkrai went first.
I think an older kid or councilor had an OU or some other smogon singles team. Legit competitive shit next to our braindead legendaries. He still lost to us, lmao.
I also remember one kid brought a whole team of wobbaffets. Match ended in a 1v1.
I love gen 5. But I'm biased. HGSS might be better. But you can't beat the BW intro cinematic. Badass shit.
