The kids' interactions with each other were good but missing digibros is missing the appeal of the franchise. At least main series Pokemon avoids that by just making them effortlessly replaceable slaves the whole time. Spinoffs like PMD are the only games where your partner is a genuine partner and I'd want that partner relationship from any Digimon style spinoff. Not even Digimon games do it right.
