>>56826512No it means that the only way it can evolve is to leave the ocean. Kabutops is one of those Pokemon that technically functions on Darwinian Evolution but for the sake of gameplay doesn't. Basically Kabutops is a Kabuto that started to evolve after it left the ocean, hence growing legs, scythes, and losing starting to loss its gills., but it can still fold itself into a more Kabuto esque form to swim faster.
You wouldn't call Homoerectus a Homosapien for instance, despite their relationship. Yet in Pokemon, Homoerectus would just evolve into Homosapien at Lv. 40 or some shit, but still have Pokedex entries talking about how they still live, move, etc. That's how Kabuto/Kabutops works.
