You don't, you just open your free 2 packs per day like everyone else.
Just like every F2P digital card game, you get a big chunk of currency right at the start, then you get a trickle from then on.

Expect this to not really change much outside of the occasional event if we're lucky.
2 packs a day is still 60 packs a month, which all things considered isn't that bad.

For reference, you can just about pull at least 1 of every card in a single pack's list after ROUGHLY 100 packs if you don't care about collecting all the variant arts (source, me who has completed the Mewtwo pack (not counting variant arts) after 97 pulls, I actually had most of the cards after just 70 pulls but getting the last few cards took more than I was expecting).

So basically, it will take you about 2 months to 'complete' 1 pack as F2P.

If you can manage to stall long enough to set up though you basically always win.

Draco Meteor is fucking nuts for point scoring and disruption at the same time because it can KO your opponent's benched mons as well as their active.
Like I said though, really, really slow to set up.

Honestly, I'd say expect them to be similar with MAYBE some better ones around major holidays occasionally.

That said, the fact that the first event of the game provides cosmetics, rather than actual resources for getting more cards, probably means that most events will not provide resources/cards in any meaningful way either.

So don't expect some big "Earn 120 Pack Hourglasses" event any time soon, it'll probably never happen.

Hypno line is the currently suggested line to run in the Gengar EX deck.
The basic idea is that since Gengar is a 3 mon line, you need to be able to buy time until he's set up.
Hypno is great for this because he can put your opponent's mon to sleep. Drowzee also has a pretty high damage move for a basic mon.

We were playing chicken since I was able to one shot his pika ex, but he couldn't dedicate any energy to his in battle card without making himself vulnerable to a ko. By the time I was set up, I couldn't risk attacking first or I would lose a few turns later.
We had a 28 turn stalemate trying to get the other person to move first until the game finally said fuck it.

We don't know.
As far as I'm aware, they have not yet made any statements about how new set releases or card rotation will work.

There's also no accepted norm for these things, different digital tcgs handle it differently.

Mewtwo packs seem like they have the most value for someone who doesn’t want to go deep (good basics / stage 1s).

I don’t think so. Maybe the total match time could be reduced? (Ten minutes for each player?) Some games can take a while if you’re trying to dig yourself out of a spot with very few outs. Is red card useless? I feel like without a hand scope it's too much of a gamble to use. Not only can it save your opponent from a bricked hand, it's not even a guarantee to disrupt a good hand aince it might just give back his key cards. It would be good if it made them be unable to draw any cards that were sent back in, unless they are the last in the deck.

and have enough experience to see the opponent "tells" depending on how they play
and if you can count cards, know odds and keep track of the game board and cards that have been shown and played so far
and its specially useful if you know the exact list the opponent is running which applies to tournaments since they are open list

if all of that can be applied then its a really good card, otherwise its not

Research is not a pot of greed though, if only for the fact that you can't chain 2 in one turn like you could with Bill in base set. It's even slightly weaker than Nemona in the real tcg, that it lets you draw 3 (with 3 times as many cards in one deck) and a dedicated card to recycle them from the trash.
Still, draw 2 in a game with a 20 card deck is already 10% of your deck in your turn, it's on the edge of being busted but not quite.

No, to slow, once it has enough energy to attack, so has the opponent and usually does it better. Articuno EX also needs three energy and has a much better payoff, it can actually ohko things. Normal Articuno fails to ohko pretty much anything, the paralysis means nothing if you can simply outright kill the opponent instead. It's sad how the Ex-Pokemon make others completely obsolete. Nobody plays vanilla Mewtwo, Venosaur, Moltres etc.

He's ok in pika decks if you have the right field and hand. Without those he sucks. The issue with cards like Surge or Brock is that their use is extremely limited and their effects are not strong enough to justify building a deck around them. The only upside is they might get better as better versions of the cards they affect get released, but I say they should get alt/ex versions that are more versatile.

If they ever release a trainer card that guarantees a heads on first coinflip then Marrowack is gonna be crazy. Guranteed 80 dmg for 2 energy with potential for 160, directly counters one of the top meta decks and can either dent or outright ohko most threats before they can setup. Kingler and Pinsir would also become way better.

I’m not convinced it will be Gen 2 themed unless the reason both steel and dark were gimped was due to their introduction in Gen 2. The only issue I see with that idea is that the box legends (who will be shilled) don’t fall under those types.

How's your card dex looking so far? Started yesterday, I have way too many duplicates and my last 10 pack only gave me a second full art Snorlax. They really need to implement trading soon, why is it not an option yet? I'm missing so many first and second stages to finish many evolution lines.

Also, they really need to show if you already own certain cards when you check the Offering Rates, I might be rolling on a pack that I might already have most commons and uncommons and I wouldn't know.

im not sure really id rate my luck depending on how trading is implemented although machamp and brock feel like the only true whiffs amongst the higher rarity cards
as for the one star cards i think i got kinda owned for dupes but i at least have 2 of's for all the ones i do want

i think 500 packs being set complete seems kind of like the average i think im about 50 under that iirc and im like just a card or two off (missing aerodactyl) so slightly above rate in terms of set completion as well

Every free pick you miss the card, another chansey is added to your 2 pt pull. It caps at 4/5, for an 80% chance.
Just wait a few hours. Those pulls are scarce as fuck when they wear out, and are one of the best resources in the game.

Yes, it's actually dead. There's no variance in meta decks, little content, a major feature isn't even implemented, the launch isn't generous like other mobile games, and there's extreme content drought with an event that's easily finished in a day. They released a half-baked game. Still enjoyable in spurts though.

Battle events against PVE decks giving various rewards, maybe some low tier promo cards.
Honestly, that's all I can imagine.

Is it better to run Golduck, starmie ex, Articuno, or lapras? leaning towards Golduck as it requires less energy and I can save my misty for gyarados. Plus I can let 2 of them die vs only losing 1 starmie ex.

I hope the Spheal line will be usable when he comes out. That guy and Slowpoke are my favorites. Sadly, Slowpoke is pretty bad. 2 energy to attack (30 damage) or retreat and only 70 HP just isn't great.

Dragonite deck is unstable as fuck, especially without a misty, but holy shit is it fun. That fat dragon can just make the most absurd comebacks, people really sleep on how powerful 50 dmg to a benched mon can be. Can't wait for him to get a Lance/Claire support, preferably one that allows him to treat one of his energies as a water or electric energy, depending on which one he needs, or one that flips the current and/or next generated energy.

That's the fun part, it does, which is how it ended up banned from tournaments. The Japanese version had a requirement that Slowking must be Active for it to work, but that was removed in the English release.

I haven't played it, but from what people have complained about, the game is extremely f2p unfriendly, as in you need to wait literal months to build a proper deck which by then it was most likely already powercrept. That's why people praise MD so much, it is really easy to build decks as a f2p player.

Lapras is the same rarity as Langaskhan. Actually probably slightly more common since it has an alt art you can pull.

Kanga is more offensively threatening than Lapras, but the main issue with Lapras is just getting oneshot by Pika ex. If that card didn't exist they'd be more comparable.

the point is that while yes, weezing can work with a surprising number of pokemon, theres not really a lot of decisions beyond "who am i playing". if im telling you im playing some random shit like weezing/hypno, you could probably tell me exactly what my decklist is (unless i am missing shit) because there are too few good cards. theres no choosing between preferential utility cards or whatever, and there's no deciding how many copies of each card to play. you will run all the good trainers at 2 minus ones you dont have yet. thats the decklist for any deck out there.

There is one person here shilling him. He has 110 health giving him a good breakpoint. If you go first with Koffing your second turn is very explosive. You can add him back to hand with Koga letting you set up again and avoid giving out prizes.

Yeah actually they need to just completely remove weakness. Half the cards in the game are completely unusable because they're "costed" to have a certain amount of HP / breakpoint against enemies (e.g. 80 HP to survive a Sandslash or whatever), but happen to have exactly enough HP to get oneshot by like Pikachu ex or whatever. It's just not fun. Lapras is a great example, it's an unplayable card.
