There's a lot of things wrong with that awful, awful design, but the fact that it somehow looks like it has even LESS teeth than vanilla Sharpedo, despite the mega actually having one more (if you're willing to count those skin fangs anyway), is almost impressive.

The skin of sharks is made of a cartilage that is similar in structure to teeth, that's pretty much the reason Mega Sharpedo is so spiky, those are protruding teeth, it's the same reason Carvanha, Sharpedo and Garchomp have Rough Skin as an ability.
Sharpedo's beta sprite looked far better than what we got.
