Did you look at the rates? She's in a 5% pool, and is only a 0.357% chance. Gardevoir is as rare as non-EX Mewtwo (and Ditto, funny enough). Meanwhile, in the zard packs, Sabrina is in a 90% pool at a 2.571% chance.

In this case, just stick with Mewtwo packs and build up dust. If you get Gardevoir, dust a Sabrina or two. I ended up dusting my second Gardevoir too, and I'm sure many others share the pain.

The game def selects certain less rare cards to be “unfindable” on your account, as a way to limit your ability to complete everything. I am missing only the regular mewtwo card, and I have 5 mewtwo EX’s and 2 full art mewtwo EX’s.

Do pic rel first. then do all of the solo battles. You should have around 20 to 25 packs or so.

You should focus on one booster pack until you can make the deck you want and use your first wonder picks to fill in your deck with missing Ex mons.

I feel bad for underrating Zebstrika at first. That 30 damage directed at any target for a single energy is awesome paired with pika because the rat’s big numbers aren’t really that big. Softening up bench mon / finishing them off is very helpful.

You really are a bit helpless against pika if it gets the full bench. Of course, you might be able to clear out members of the bench against some variants, but without hitmonlee, it looks like a rough time to me. On the plus side, you don’t really have to worry about pidgey’s weakness (outside of pika, himself).

dragonite is just too slow to the meta

in todays tournament of 470 players the best dragonite placement was 87th

in ydays tournament of 240 players the best dragonite placement was 143th

in the one from the other day with 500+ players the best placement was 145th

dragonite is just too slow for the meta, having to attach 4 energy without acceleration, with random energy on top of that and your damage being completely random makes it so slow an inconsistent

I feel you about Gardevoir, in my case I had 2 options: wait for 3 daily packs to have enough dust to buy a second copy or luck it out and pick it. I won my bet and my Mewtwo deck is completed. I do not need to really use my hourglasses anymore (do not have any left anyways) so these daily packs for the rest of the month will be just flex. I can save my tickets for the next month and will have 140 (current) + 120 dust left to buy anything else I feel like grabbing.

So wonder picks are chosen at random from both your friends list and from strangers.
Priority is given to packs opened by your friends.
Further priority is given to packs containing rare cards.

So in short, it's because the people on your friends list aren't pulling very good.
As other people said, you typically want to populate your friend list with whales to maximize the number of EX wonder picks you get offered.

They know that most fans of the Pokemon care about collecting more than they care about actually playing the game.
They wanted to pull in the normalfag crowd who like the arts but aren't really into the battling element.

It's a smart choice.
That said, the datamined update notes show signs that they're working on a ranked ladder mode with rewards.

So it's about to get really fucking shit, I was really hoping this one would be different. I'm one of those normalfags, I like collecting cards and building decks but I'm not really a big fan of actually playing the game.

I hate that I'm gonna be forced to play the game once they release that update so I don't miss out on rewards.

Dual types are mostly for you to cover the deck weakness so it doesn't get blown out by certain matchups. Usually the secondary type can run on colorless so you can just give them the main color. For example, having Miensao in a Mewtwo deck just so you can cover against Darkness

Because the card does literally nothing half of the time and you only have 20 card slots. It's great when it works, but it can cost you the game if you run two and draw + whiff them both.

It's why the version that doesn't run it is ranked so much higher in that event.

if you go second playing starmie you have energy tempo to win
if on top of that you hit a misty its gg

and if you go first and you hit a misty its as if you were second, but with the added bonus that you also evolve into starmie

yes, 50% does nothing, but 50% of the time wins you the game

That's the exact issue with flippy cards. They're good when they work, but they functionally just decrease your hand size by 1 if they don't. So you're playing with 1 less card than you opponent when they fail, leaving you at a disadvantage.

Red Card and Pokeball can also very easily end up a dead card. I think they'll VERY quickly fall out of use once more trainer cards are added.

Assuming expansions are every 3 months meaning 90 days
>2 daily packs = 180
>4 hourglass from daily rewards = 30
>10 + 60 monthly shop hourglasses = 11ish
We get about 220 packs per cycle

It's not super fun to lose because you know the archetypes of your opponent already and what coin flip would've put things in your favor. There's no sense of begrudging acceptance when your opponent gets you with something unexpected because there isn't anything unexpected. Unironically getting my shit clapped with uncommon cards feels good. I got Poliwrath locked earlier and just laughed as I got swept.

I feel like there's no good partner for Blastoise. Probably that means it's just not a good deck. You're so card and energy hungry that you really want something efficient to hold the front line. 2 energy for a golduck already feels like too much when it can easily die and waste 2 energy before you've got your blastoise ready. But it's not like Blastoise is some incredible win condition like Dragonite, stall isn't going to help.

like pikachu mirror, mewtwo mirror, mewtwo-pikachu all get decided with the initial coinflio 90% of the time

with misty is like having an extra initial coinflip that just affects you, if you were first its like you were second, and if you were second its gg

there is no reason not to run something like that

So if you account for that, then assume maybe a roughly 140/80 split in packs spent on main sets vs mini-sets.

But generally speaking, yeah it's pretty decent. Most digital TCGs only give you enough free currency for about 2 packs per day once you add everything up (daily rewards, ranked rewards, etc). So it's about on par if maybe slightly better than usual for digital TCGs.

It's such an insanely good deal on a money-packs rate. You're getting 30 packs a month for 10 bucks PLUS cosmetics.
Even if you ignore the cosmetics completely, that's still 0.30 per pack, which is crazy good.

5 tickets daily for 150 a month
70 store hourglasses=5 packs and 10 hourglasses
to buy them all you need 210 tickets

There's a need of 60 tickets from other activities like challenges monthly or you won't be able to actually purchase the free 15 monthly packs that stack with the 60 monthly packs. It all translates to 375 new cards monthly from pulls, give or take. You get that same number of pack points monthly, not enough for an EX, but enough for something like 2 stage 2 and a supporter, for example.

If you include the tickets needed for the wonder pull, you need 210 extra tickets to cover for them.

I'm ignoring the 12 hourglasses for leveling up, or the recharge time for wonder picks. What could I be forgetting or not properly calculating?

The more non-English friends you have, the more chances of their picks showing up. There's no guarantee. If you want cards in other languages though, it's easier to just open packs while playing with another language active. Click your three lines on the bottom right, select settings, scroll down to language, and pick one of the other 8 options (bottom three are Japanese, Korean, and Chinese, respectively). Any cards you get from packs, Chansey picks, and bonus picks will be in that language.

they don't. whoever said that is a fucking retard. it's fucking awful. they do only 30 damage.... Pikachu is about getting out lots of damage quickly. those 2 do not do that. Magnemite is also horrible for this. All Magnemite is useful for is pumping energy into raichu.

Maybe jolteon if you're lucky enough to evolve it quickly so you don't lose damage having it on your bench.
Electabuzz is probably the last one you want. but you really don't want to use Pincurchin or Zebrastrike as their damage is so low.

Wow, playing without EX and coin flip cards really makes you realize how fucking shite they all are. The game must match make based on your deck because for like 8 games in a row I was getting decks similar to mine with few to no EX cards. I even defeated 2 articuno decks both getting 0 misty energy 2 times. But then I played an articuno deck and it got a 9 energy misty on turn 1 and just wiped me.

Anyone defending coin flips also must admit that it’s not a “random 50/50 chance, the game definitely favors one result or another based on certain things, it’s a lot like call of duty lobby matchmaking, it tries to make it feel natural, but you can tell what’s going on.

I hope more anons choose to adopt and support the “no EX, no coin flips” meta for /vp/, it really opens the game up and makes more decks and mons viable.

The best it could do is give you potential early game advantage imo, and even then it would need to combo with red card which would only be good once, and it still requires an energy you could be giving to someone better.

Could be interesting to flex and meme on people though.
Maybe in the future it could be useful if the meta develops to be more yugioh like where a single card from your opponent can fuck over your Turn 1 strategy combo and lets you know if you need to wait or not, but as it stands it isn't good but still fun and interesting slightly, which is good because if Mew was a meta threat that would be absolutely abysmal and game killing.

Energies are free.
Either you dump your basics immediately so they can start evolving and gaining energy ergo they're no longer in hand (unless you're really afraid of a Sabrina/Victreebel/Pidgeot bench snipe), or else your bench is full so they're worthless bricks.
You can't tutor evolutions, only random basics with PokeBall. So there's no use case of seeing them tutor then shuffling it before they can use it the next turn.

So every turn, a person dumps most everything playable in their hand. The only things you hold back are situational aids like Potion, X Speed, or non-oak/misty/brock supporters. And you have no assurance that their hand contained them when you red carded or won't contain them afterwards, other than it they're holding less cards.

Which means for the most part, using red card is only wheeling away your opponents bricks and giving them more gas when they were probably out of they had 4+ cards in hand. It's only useful if your opponent has had plenty of gas so far and you need to prevent them from healing, retreating, boosting damage, or switching you out.

Bros my charizard packs have always given me the best pulls but now I'm spinning the carousel until I see the sparkles and then stopping it and quickly picking the pack I stop on. I have gotten 3 1-3 star cards consecutively. It's probably psychobabble pseudoscience superstitious placebo. Don't spend money on gacha but if you want to try something different for fun you can. yes its bad to use in most situation. its usefulness depends on how the game goes. Ive used it to stop people from evolving their attackers and to make people have to use a research so they couldn't use a gio and KO that turn or gust me with sabrina. its not strong/broken like other disruption cards are in the pokemom TCG, but its still a disruption card so I think its good to have at least one for certain situations.

It works exactly like that, the game weighs your deck and match makes based on that and other factors like win rate too obviously. I can also tell some games are “advertisement” games, where it gives me all my cool cards to show the other player who is clearly a free to play player.

The card draw is absolutely retarded. The bottom 3 cards of my deck are always the only cards I need to make my combo go off.

I’ve been testing a lot, and it’s so obvious the RNG is being heavily manipulated on the back end, with 20 cards it’s very easy to tell. I can see some games are clearly in my favor and others not.

So far I'm undefeated with the Charizard deck I completed today. This deck enjoys the overabundance of Mewtwo decks online. It's a nice change of pace from playing the Mewtwo deck and getting mirror match after mirror match. Meowth is a trap, it's a shit card and you're wasting your turns for card draw that is basically worthless when you consider how small your deck is.
You already have professor's research x2 and pokeball x2 for draw, you don't need to be wasting turns on such awful, slow card draw.

As you've already figured out, you're better off just putting an actually good pokemon in your deck instead.

You already have professor's research x2 and pokeball x2 for draw, you don't need to be wasting turns on such awful, slow card draw.

As you've already figured out, you're better off just putting an actually good pokemon in your deck instead.

I've been testing a Mewtwo Gardevoir deck with Meowth in it as well as a singleton Persian. Meowth always feels like I'm giving my opponent a free point but being able to evolve it and go on the offensive once I'm done drawing feels very good. I can't say if it's actually better but I'm liking it more at least.

I've been having a lot of fun with Venusaur ex. It jobs pretty hard to Mewtwo and Zard but mogs the shit out of all the retards running Articuno. Does decent against Pika decks but not the surge variant as much.

I've been running it with (non) ex eggs and feel like a chad forcing these twink fast decks to go through x2 130 HP walls before even getting to the boss mon. With Erika/Potions/Venusaur it's easily over 600HP they get forced to clear lmfao.

The answer is no it's probably not better. You're drawing Meowth instead of what you actually want, which is Mewtwo or a card in the Gardevoir family. You think you're buying yourself time but you're actually effectively slowing down your deck by diluting the card pool.

It kept giving me Caterpie to start every game in my melmetal deck because it thought it was teaching me a lesson about energy requirements.

Any deck advise to make Gyarados "Work"? Best I've come up with is Throwing in a bunch of tanky or strong basic mins like Kanga or Articuno (Normal) to make sure I don't brick on Magikarp. It's still like a shitty version of a Dragonite deck which is already pretty shit.

You get cards with Meowth, not time. If you want time you use Kang instead. Besides, Gardevoir Mewtwo with a single Meowth has placed in the top of a few tournament lists. Alongside a variant uses Jynx instead. It's like other anons pointed out in this thread. Mewtwo is fragile. Having a non-essential mon on the bench to protect against Sabrina is good and Meowth can pull double duty by helping your gameplan. Jynx likewise can act as a Sabrina shield and can hit decently hard. The way I see it, using Persian combines the two.

It's an interesting theory but I believe reducing Pokeball targets to speed up the process of getting the core pieces of the deck out onto the field will prove to be the safer strategy. Retrieving a Jynx or Meowth from the deck with a Pokeball would piss me off to no end.

Yeah but 1/5 cards meowth draws is pokeball or professor research, meaning you draw 2-3 cards and get through your deck faster.

Also, if you run 2 mewtwo, 1 gard, 1 meowth, 1/4 times you’ll get free extra card on turn one and tank 1-2 attacks with meowth. A single meowth, no Persian, and low amount of basic mons, also means that pokeballs that draw into meowth can actually draw into any card, same turn if you’ve got x-speed or retreat cost.

True. I respect your viewpoint here even if I may disagree. I will probably play around with adding a Jynx or Mewtwo for fun because honestly the deck can get pretty repetitive, and facing against it so often adds to some of the monotony as well. In general I think I will slow down on playing matches until more cards are introduced and the ranked matches are implemented.

Playing earlier I thought I noticed that Meowth offset the ‘going first’ penalty pretty heavily. Like if you go first with meowth, you can set up whatever, tank their first hit, then go and either draw a card and sac meowth or sometimes their starter and bench can’t 2 hit him, so you can pull him out and save a point.

Well other anons might tell you otherwise. And honestly, I'd recommend looking up videos of the gameplay of the Pikachu EX deck if you're not familiar with it. If you're not as interested in it as say Exeggutor EX, than maybe you should go to the Charizard packs. At the end of the day fun should be the piority. But if you are interested in being competitive on the ranked ladder when it is introduced, finishing the Pikachu EX deck will put you in a very good spot for this current meta.

slower decks make better use of a more timely/late-game sabrina meaning you will generally see it when you need it by then (slower decks also dont make use of early tempo sabrinas especially against decks like pikachu ex/starmie ex with very cheap retreat costs)
some decks like scraping up points immediately not letting your opponent build up a bench and put a lot of aggressive pressure with more tempo oriented sabrinas so 2 copies would be needed
sabrina is a great card and one minimum is currently necessary but the choice for two depends on the deck
