Were people serious about trying to set up a no EX, no coin flip meta? I don't hate the current meta, but I kinda wanna play in a different environment once in a while and use cards that just aren't that good. It's like playing Little Cup in the Pokemon games or Pauper in magic.

I had 2 sabrinas in the past week, but they are essentially dead draws once victreebel comes in. And the only times you want to draw sabrina is really early on if your opponent draws well or youre plan gets fucked somewhere in early-mid game and you need sabrina out to maybe save the game. 1 sabrina is fine for now, and the 2 erika has been saving my ass today so maybe this was the correct choice after all since I beat all the pikas I faced today because of double drawing erika and keeping victreebel alive.

Very solid, you kinda want to go 1st because of the evo spike and potentially ending the game if you get double heads. He can tank mewtwo 150 atk, but noticed more ppl running gio to finish off exeggutor. Just wish he was base 50 atk or 170/180 hp.

not that anon but i also have a victreebel/egg deck and sabrina is 100% needed at 2. my list is the same as his but i drop red card for the sabrina. red card is just bad. sabrina becoming useless because you set up victreebel is a VERY nice problem to have. the issue with any stage 2 deck is actually successfully getting it into play. you need all the early disruption you can muster and sabrina is just too good at that. spam it even. if they attach 1 energy and need 2 to attack, sabrina them. winning a whole turn of delay is way too strong to pass up.

I think Golurk is cool, and Jynx is breddy good as an emergency card later in the game when the opponent has something that needs like 3-4 energy stacked on it. I've won a lot of games because of Jynx. Though I'll admit that Golett and Golurk kinda suck, but I don't have many psychic cards to work with right now so its either those two or Swoobat

Sure, it can help to reach 2 energy when you start, and you can use it on your second Starmie or your Greninja so you can retreat, but also Misty doesn't do anything at all half of the time, and you could use Giovanni or something instead.
Misty is so overrated to be honest. People lost on turn 1 only once (or maybe never), but they keep freaking out for days.

Red card is hands down the strongest card in the game. You have to use it solely based off tells your opponents does. You need it as a 1-of. Running it at 2 is a bad idea because the decks sizes are too small to run more than a single copy. 2 sabrina is okay, I went on a massive streak of drawing both sabrinas before getting anything set up so I swapped it, erika is just flat out better to draw 2 of and youll need erika more often than not to sustain the victreebel swaps.

I think Mawile is an insanely powerful card, it's just hard to find a payoff. I feel like a really high value Stage 2 or an overstatted Stage 1 is the best bet. Has to be colourless or mostly colourless, of course. Flareon? Alakazam? Golem, so you can use Brock to accelerate? Or a fossil, maybe. Beedrill also impresses me with its statline.

The annoying thing is that Melmetal IS too slow - unless you go second and you can Amass and then switch to Mawile with an X-Speed next turn. Then it feels fast as fuck. Everything you could replace it with is going to be slower when you draw it in your opening hand going second.

you will never win a tournament without pikachu, mewtwo or charizard with the cards we have currently, that is how big the gap is between those 3 and the rest

yes, you can win against them on a single game with other decks, you might highroll, they might brick as well
but doing so consistently in a tournament to get you a win is impossible

the major drawback of the charizard deck is getting your charmelon and charizard in time

after your initial setup of molttres + charmander you will likely have one or two pokeballs left to use

so you use pokedex to see if the charmeleon/charizard you need is coming up and if its not then you pokeball to shuffle your deck

Me rn, they planned this economy pretty horridly. I only have enough hourglasses for like 8 packs that I'm aiming to conserve for the next expansion, and enough for 1 wonder pick. They need to pump way more resources and way more things to play into the game. After you go through and get the deck you want to make, there's not much to do with it, which is pretty awful for a game launch. Kills the eagerness of having finally finished a deck.

and has missions, each mission has a reward, each time you beat it also has a reward

Pocket doesn't use the standard TCG rules, it's a simplified and faster version.
e.g. Cards have different effects from their TCG counterparts. You generate 1 energy per turn instead of them being cards you have to draw. Decks have 20 cards instead of 40. Game ends after a player gets 3 KOs instead of 6. etc

I dont know why its called crafting, its just another shop. Every time you open a pack you get 5 pack points, you go into a menu and can spend your pack points on any card in the set. The ultra rare golden crown things cost 2500pp, the EX cards are like 500pp and you can buy any missing common little shitter cards for 35pp or something.

Duel Links has its own share of problems but its card economy is so much better with the way we get constant events, packs never leaving, cards guaranteed to be in the box, and Dream Tickets. The 2 free packs a day are not really worth it with how hard it is to collect stuff. If I couldn't reroll my account until I got what I wanted I'd probably not have even bothered with this game. I'm already thinking about how future expansions are going to suck to go through because you're just winging it with a set account instead of rerolling.

there will almost certainly be some kind of restrictions on trading (even ptcgo, which was more of a simulator than a gacha had restrictions) but I doubt it's going to outright decide what rarity you have to trade for. will probably cost yet another currency to do and/or be locked behind daily cooldowns and minimum level requirements. all speculation though, of course.

I kind of doubt they will. I think it's WAY more likely that they introduce a new currency you have to spend for trade and the cost goes up based on the rarity you're trying to trade. So like if you're trying to trade a 1 star for a 2 star, just doing the trade itself will cost a fuckton of trade point.

Pokemon Go uses a similar system, where they balance trading shinies and legendaries by making prohibitively expensive.

No, equal rarities itself does nothing to prevent alt account abuse, since someone can just trade their junk EXs for rerolled good EXs.

Putting such a high cost on trading that you can only trade extremely rare cards once every couple months does make it impossible to shovel over good cards from an alt (at least, in any significant capacity).

It depends which game you came from. In Yugioh, a tier 0 format is defined as a format where 65% or more of the top ranking decks at an event are the same deck. Even IshizuTear had counters, but the deck was so ridiculously consistent that there wasn't much reason not to play it.

I've gotten Articuno EX, 2 copies of Zapdos EX, Pikachu EX, and FA Pidgeot from it so far
Been pretty damn fantastic
I've missed some stuff too but 20% despite being low is a lot better than the ~2% from the packs when you put it in perspective, so it's better to bank on those rolls than the wasted pack attempts

1050 pack points is a lot from just free shit, you'll get a couple of immersives + maybe a gold crown over 200 packs easily(not counting all the event shit we'll get soon, according to datamines)

That's actually the reason they give you the packs directly instead of giving you a free currency to buy packs with like other digital TCGs.

It's to drip feed you the dopamine of opening 1 pack every 12 hours, acting as a push/trigger to spend money. This is better than the free currency option because with that you can just hoard currency until you can open a big batch of packs all at once and blow your load and not feel like you need to spend money.

It's honestly genius that they did it this way in like a really manipulative, nefarious way.

I don’t have Pika but I genuinely don’t even understand how you lose with it. The Ratón has amazing damage efficiency as a basic and every staple card has 1 retreat cost so you have so much more counterplay than other decks that lack the same bulk and light retreating

Because the early TCG only had supporters. The issue was that there was nothing stopping people from spamming the best trainer cards multiple times per turn. Supporters were introduced to nerf trainer cards in general without having to completely remove the problem trainers.

Like "Draw 2 cards" isn't an issue on its own. It WAS a problem in the first years of the game when you could easily pop four of them in one turn and draw 8 cards. (and it was one of the LEAST broken of the bullshit trainers in that format)

NTA but it's pretty straightforward if you have the tools. >>56850810 covers it pretty well but the cheap retreat costs and only running 4 mons lets you stall really well by cycling through mons and low energy costs means you can almost always be on the offensive if you're prepping your vulpix/ninetails on the bench. I can beat M2 decks with it fairly conssitently as long as I don't brick RNG

I'd unironically give you one of my normal Mewtwo ex for a couple if trading were possible. It's ridiculously frustrating to have 0, so you have to fill the deck with cards that do nothing like Pokedex just to fill out the count.

I think it's stupid that we have to equip the flair every single deck. I have flair on Potion and X Speed but only equipped on like 1-2 decks and not the other 6 cards. It should auto-equip as default with an option to disable it if need be.

This proves nothing. The buddy simply picked the bent pack, but it was before he ripped it open. There was no proof it was seen during the wheel animation. Of course it would show what he got as he already picked the bent pack and what was in the bent pack would be rare. And its a Full-Art Squirtle Card so that leads credence to the theory. Not a bad pack to pull.

Copied picrel off the tournament site in the op but with a red card over gio out of personal preference. Basically it lets you be aggressive out of the gate with low energy cost/retreat cost mons but also it lets you bluff and set traps like mentioned in >>56850810. Switch out can make its staple mons RC 0, and you can bluff damage ranges that your opp will probably miss. Consider a game scenario like this
>Need to kill opponent’s EX Mewtwo to win, he has it out vs Rapidash, Mewtwo is at 120HP
>Switch out Rapidash with an unevolved Vulpix on my bench at 1 Fire Energy
>Vulpix gets your energy for that turn, evolve to Ninetales, use 2 Fire Energy Flamethrower with a boost from Blaine to do 120 damage and kill Mewtwo to win

Obviously good players might clock it but even if they do, it forces them on the defensive and you have Sabrinas to fuck them up in that case. We’re only playing vs randoms though so to the average joe that gamestate just looks like an unevolved benched Vulpix and not your win condition

I think it's something like your pull is determined the moment you click the button, but the chance of easter eggs like a bent or backwards pack is raised if your pull is good. So sure, the bend doesn't change anything, but if you notice a bend, it gives you a hint of what you got. Of course, despite knowing this, I'm still going to look for bends or backwards packs every time.

Isn't it a good thing that packs refresh on a timer instead of on a daily basis?
Because then you can use hourglasses to manipulate your pack refresh time so that you get one pack in the morning when you wake up and one at the same time that night?

I've got mine set to 6 and 6 right now and it's pretty comfy, I wake up, open a pack, then after work I open my second pack for the day and I'm done.

Anon, you do realize that having an actual roulette of cards after you have already picked the Open a Pack option means that the odds of you getting certain cards can be increased or decreased, right? And tampering with odds in a gacha game is extremely illegal in Japan. Everything that happens after you tap Open a Pack is nothing but shines and sparkles, from the several packs to choose, to the bent flaps, to packs showing the back. There's no secret tech here, it's all just placebo to make your monkey brain think that those little things can actually improve your odds.
