So I've been pulling really hard into charizard packs since I want a lot of the decks that come from that set. I have playsets of exeggutor, charizard, machamp, starmie, melmetal, sabrina, and even poliwrath, but I still want a 2nd copy of greninja, moltres, and victreebel. I also have no frogadiers somehow. I'm starting to get to the point where I have playsets of a lot of the set and don't want to end up with 3+ of the cards, but I still don't really have a lot of the decks fully up and running. Should I keep rolling charizard, or should I just buy them with pack points? or maybe just keep janking along until I can wonder pick them?

They won't, simple. There's gonna be SOME limitation though; they won't make it completely cost-free. It'll be F2P friendly, but you'll need something to pay for it. What that something is is anyone's guess. That mystery ticket we got at launch is probably it, and we will likely only get one of those a week/month.

I get this feeling a lot when looking at ex vs non-ex versions but my main takeaway is that if you're investing 3 energy on something, you want it to survive as long as possible.

I definitely still play 1 copy of the non-ex in Machamp or whatever just because stage 2 decks are inconsistent enough as it is.

Coin flipping is fine for attacks but the coinflip to decide who goes first should be replaced with rock-paper-scissors, and letting the winner choose first or second.

It's a 50/50 shot.
I guarantee that for all flips except the first one (which seems to be player controlled to at least some extent) are literally some variation of (obviously with proper syntax but you get the point, there's only 2 outcomes 0 and 1 and the code picks one at random, it's 50/50).

he hits a bit harder but I wonder if it's better to run normal arcanine and suicide 2 of them and just crash out into the enemy. Losing 2 normals is only 2 prizes vs losing ex which is 2.

but ex will kill things quicker and possibly live longer since the enemy is dying faster and has less time to set up

It's just rare that the extra 20 health/damage makes much difference, but I suppose over time it would change the win rate.
Maybe one of each so you can play the base version early and the ex version if you're already 2 points down.

Draonite is actually a super f2p friendly deck. Most versions of the deck don't need anything higher than a 3 diamond rarity card. Which slso makes it perfect for those solo battles. The key with this version of the deck is to turn off dark energy and just deal chip with Weezings ability. Other common ways to play the deck include Frosmoth/Misty, baby Articuno/Misty or Kangaskhan

Do you like the magmar? I feel like I'd never get use out of it. Rapidash covers cheap low dmg attacks, ninetails covers the more expensive burst damage, so why add a card that's in the middle?

Personally experimenting with fossils instead of xspeeds as anti-Sabrina tech that doesn't remove the pokeball basic consistency.
I like weezing the most since you don't need to invest any energy with him so it doesn't slow down nite, meanwhile you need Misty to say the same with moth.

Venusaur is a very volatile staller. He's hard as shit to kill, and only Charizard and a Dragonite that gets lucky can oneshot him. Mix in two Erikas and two Potions along with his innate 30 heal on attack, and you get a really tanky frog that makes the opponent seethe.

I'm going to kraft a Koga and koffing since I already had a koga/weezing/ koffing somehow.

Already have all the nidos and arbos so I think I'll make a Nidoking/weezing/arbok deck.

Maybe I can use weezing for something else too like my gyarados or omastar decks.

There can be some weird scenarios where you run into an energy surplus or want an extra body on the bench to take a hit or finish off a game so I do get why he’s there (plus he’s compatible with Blaine for a 2-Energy 80). He’s definitely not gonna feature as a centerpiece in the fights but those perks combined make him a bit less situational than any alternatives.

Not really, but every water pokemon is usable to some degree some of the time, because Misty will pop off and give it 2 or more free energy about 25% of the time.

To be honest it's the only way most water decks are even playable, putting out giant assholes who fuck shit up 25% of the time you play Misty.

Flareon isn't that good right. He doesn't deal tgat much damage and you can't boost him with Blaine. To make matters worse, he eats your energy to use so you aren't setting up anything else while using him. He's just a huge tempo sink for not enough gain. Out of the eeveelutions, only Jolteon is really viable and only if you like coin flips

I sometimes wonder if people are undervaluing cards like Beedrill. It's hard to find the pieces but 1 energy 70 damage 120 HP 1 to retreat is really nuts. Has anyone tried building a deck where you just played like 16 pokemon + 2 pokeballs + oak and used the raw power from your evolutions to get your value?

Not really.
There are other mons that deal more damage and knocking 1 energy off your opponent's mon only matters if they're already behind you on energy.
Basically, the problem is, by the time you have him set up, your opponent is almost always also set up so the bonus effect basically doesn't matter and you'd be better off going for a mon that can deal more damage.

The problem is how slow and inconsistent that is. Sure it's only one energy, but it still takes 3 turns to get top beedril. 16 Pokemon just seems bad overall unless you're meming with having a lot of active abilities

I can't see him working with anything that requires lots of energy either. It's ok to tank a lot of hits though to build up your second gyarados.

EXP gain from random battles should be based on how many points you can get in a match. It's so gay that I can lose after a longer than average game and get absolutely nothing for it. My suggestion:
1 point = 5 EXP
2 points = 10 EXP
3 points / Win = 15 EXP

I was playing Starmie Greninja and felt bad because of how disgustingly good Starmie is.
Like this poor guy was setting up his fucking bulbasaur and petilil, and I just destroyed him with my starmie on my second turn.
After that there was nothing he could do.
That win didn't feel earned, it felt like bullying. Not every match is like this, obviously, but still.
So right now I'm playing Blaine, it's good, but no disgusting. I'll save meta decks for ranked, whenever we get it.
I'm looking to build the Weezing/Muk and Dragonite/Weezing decks as well. Any other suggestions for cool non meta decks?

Without fail. I think the only time I haven't been disappointed by the usability of my favorite has been in Sleep.

Okay the tourney winner was right, Jynx in the Mewtwo deck is based, and I'm using Meowth too because no Kangaskhan yet. I take back everything I said about them getting in the way. I did have a slow time getting Gardevoir out but having the other bodies on the field let me play at a slower pace anyways. I chipped a charmander with Meowth for 10 damage, then later in the game the player got super greedy and put 7 energies on it as a Charizard EX. They just have a bad rep across different gacha games for the obvious reasons. In Masters they fucked up launch so badly that they had to suck our dicks for a year+ with free shit and plentiful gems. Once the game stabilized they would occasionally try to weasel in some of their old tricks to get people to spend but the playerbase would usually bitch them out and force them to backpedal. I guess that happy medium is how the game lasted 5 years.

It’s still too slow in my opinion, and magneton is sort of a dud outside of energy generation for this combo. This is a combo that really needs to land knockouts on ex cards, and that’s a problem when one of the most common decks (mewtwo) runs an ex that requires raichu + gio for the ohko (can’t be done on a lt surge turn).

Normally yeah. Giovanni and Sabrina, you can generally only bring one due to their situational value. But Brock, Surge, Misty, Erika, and Blaine are required 2 per relevant deck if you’re serious about building those decks.

There are just situations where it's nice. Punishing EXs that store a lot of energy for one thing, so it's great in the mirror match or against Charizard EX. For two energy Jynx on average will hit harder than Mewtwo with two energy, so having Jynx out front smacking stuff and taking hits while Mewtwo is charging up energy or you're trying to draw pieces for Gardevoir feels great. Having a Sabrina target that can actually do some serious damage to your opponent and draw the heat of your Mewtwos and Gardevoirs. Jynx can also be full power in a single turn provided Gardevoir is in play

If you have two Garde already then yeah. Otherwise I wouldn't switch packs until you have a completed Mewtwo deck, because the packs will significantly slow down as a free-to-play player once you complete the solo battles and you won't want to be caught opening 2 or 3 packs a day without a strong deck

So do you guys think it will be faster to farm promo packs by spamming the Beginner battle in the event (50 percent chance to get a pack each time you clear, with the benefit of being super easy) or by spamming the Expert battle (harder to win reliably, but 100 percent pack drop chance for each clear)?

I was impatient and spent a lot but then I realized this game is looking pretty dogshit on the hourglass generosity so I started hoarding after I got a certain card I wanted. It sucks because hourglasses are the real card providers so we need a LOT more given the awful rates, the 2 packs a day don't really do anything.
