It's probably better to just have one be easy with "no gimmick" than cribbing the gimmick of another simply for lack of ideas. Although I have no idea why only the first trainer in the gauntlet was immune to status. Either a very strange design choice or the godlike flag was erroneously flipped by shitcode when configuring the fight? The principle still applies to stuff like Yoko who has Godlike on 5/6 of her mons for no good thematic reason other than "it has to be harder".

the only way to recover PP is by using a slightly better version of leftovers that will randomly heal 1 PP of one of your moves per turn (even moves that have full PP)

For contrast my idea for long postgame gauntlets in a future project of mine (not unfucking rejuv) involves getting 50% healing and PP restoration after every battle (for convenience and since items are blocked in the gauntlets) and every 5-6 waves you get a full heal and the ability to rotate mons in and out of one PC box before resuming
