Realistically, a small dog pokemon like Eevee or even Pikachu. You will not be able to tame a 4 foot tall bee with stingers the size of a large dog. It will kill you then loot your body. Stick to a normal type pokemon like lillipup

The question is what would most of them even be useful for?
A cute pet is a choice. You could also pick one that could provide basic services, like a Chancey for taking care of kids or a strong one to help you with chores and housework. Self defense would also work for a lot of them.

I think the most useful would be one that could Fly. Itd still be basically impossible to try to fly over and ocean but it could basically just be a better, faster form of personal transport

That's too expensive and dangerous. If we assume we don't have to pay for HMs, we would still have to pay for riding gear. That, or you'd have to get a bird pokemon that evolves into a big enough bird that you can ride on, but without proper gear, that's super dangerous. Just kidnap yourself a Ralts or Abra and have it teleport you everywhere

Meowstic seems like the easiest one to take care of
Espeon comes in close but its bit too girly pop
Alolan Raichu, I feel like it would not be happy with me cause I don't like the beach that much, he needs to be in the waves

Porygon = Teleporter, checks my kitty's Ghost weakness, plus I work with computers so he is perfect
Togetic = he sparks joy, checks the Bug and Dark Weakness

Ribombee/Chimecho = Healmons/Gardeningmons( for free food) and support mons in battle

Metang= inside the pokeball only, and my main combatmon, he is also good with computers

I can live with all of them inside an apartment except for Metang
Everyone floats in a way
3 of them don't need to eat and clean up the poops and wipe the pee

Thinking of Adding in Comfey and IndeedeeF, or Galar Meowth

realistically most people would not have a 3rd stage Mon, in the game its easy but lore wise training Pokemon is very hard and the MC is a generational prodigy.

it would be cool to have a mimikyu, they try to make friends with humans so if you could one it would be pretty easy to take care of.

It's abilities would be helpful around the house and it wouldn't destoy my home just by existing. They are also really friendly naturally so I can pet it like a dog. Would basically be like having a dog that can get stuff down from high shelves. Would be kino. Idk if I'd let it evolve. Would feel wrong to evolve it into an Ivysaur because it's plant will never fully bloom. It's kind of a sad thought. So I'd just want it to stay a bulbasaur. Keeping the bulb seems less stressful. Venusaur would be a fine pet, its just way to large to be in the house anymore. The thought of that is sad af. Would have to widen all my door and probably knock some walls down. Venusaur could work in a big open floor plan house maybe? Lmao

It kinda depends on what Pokemon lifespans are like. Imagine having a Butterfree that lives a month at most.
According to the dex entries, Wartortle live 10000 years and Ninetales up to 1000, but Absol are said to be long-lived when they only live for 100.

The cheapest leftover pokémon that would be available at the store once all the rich parents went to buy a pokémon pet for their kid. I would fall for the commercial for something cute like Eevee or Mudkip and get... Paras, Wooper or Bidoof, some no name no brand pokédex filler like that while they would try to hype it to make me happy I have started pokémon like all the other kids. And I would be lucky if my parents didn't try to make me share and take turns with my siblings. My parents cared, but had to work long hours to provide for the family. My only advantage would be that they would probably give me a stash of pokéballs too and don't mind I play outside a lot and bring strange creatures or two, because they would be at the work, and we also traveled on summer vacation every year, so I would have chance to bring some weird pokémon from mountains or from sea too. Also got bullied, so my pokémon would be know by its name at local pokécenter.

Growlie for warmth and hugs and fire source

Marshstomp is my starter and water source, Wooper can take his place if I want maximun comfyness

Emolga is my electric source, Joltik can also be perfect

Dollive is my maid I guess ,she can use olive oils in her buns to cook the food, she has the harvester ability to duplicate berries and stuff and hopefully over all help with growing the food faster when winter arrives

I guess I just need a Transport mon, someone I can ride or someone that can use teleport

All my life I always got along with the "underdog" and "rejected" types, I deeply identify with them and their authenticity and feel a deep need to protect them and be alongside them. The moment I heard Mimikyu's lore he immediatly became my favorite pokemon, we would get along so well and we could burn pikachu plushies in the yard for fun.
