Depends on which side gets to hear more about it. If the three explorers are recounted through Gibeon to Amethio, it's probably just ammunition for his grandson to do better. If it's by that dead lady at the pool or through other journals to Liko & co, probably more about Lucius to get a better understanding over the decision to leave his partners behind before entering the glittering "paradise".

Is Liko's anime worth watching? I liked the first episode because it was about a shy girl struggling to make friends in Pokémon school. I was pretty meh on the second episode because the grass cat oneshotting the ghost sword armor with Leafage was peak AIM FOR THE HORN shounenslop where there's no stakes and the hero always wins because she hopes hard enough.

A movie's success doesn't depend on its story and plot, only overly idealistic people believe this to delude themselves. After all, people actually has to watch the movie to know the story and plot. At the end, a movie's success depends on its ability to draw people into the watching that movie. Various movie tries to accomplish this with A-list actors , interesting premise, good trailer better advertisement & promotion. The main reason Detective Pikachu becomes a hit because it has Ryan Ronald voicing Pikachu.

The main reason Pokémon The Movie Coco flopped because the movie had nothing interesting to draw people to watch it and it was released during a freaking pandemic. It was another Tarzan ripoff, Zarude was ugly , no eye candy like Lisa , different Ash with different personalities who doesn't even use any pokemon except Pikachu and the villain was using a mere construction mecha that made pokemon look weak.

At the end, the fake movie about Ash getting Mega Charizard Y and defeating a trainer with Buzzwole was more interesting than Coco. The very fact that OLM scrapped this mean it was from a fake leak or OLM just incompetent.

It gets better every episode, it has really good characters that you can really see their growth, and side characters that are funny and likeable, the plot is fine and I like the villains that have a purpose instead of just "we are evil and want to rule the world".
I started watching it at the end of September and caught up two weeks ago and I can't wait for a new episode.

The premise is uninteresting, the characters are boring, their interactions are dull, there is no laughable humor, there is no competition and rivals. The main characters has nothing compelling enough to people to care about that. Liko still doesn't have an actual goal outside of finding a magical paradise that only she is special enough to find because of her bloodline.

Long story short, the entire Pokémon 2023 is a poorly written ripoff of "Pokémon The Movie 09 : Rangers and The Temple Of The Sea".

If you're mainly in for game characters, hop in from the 46th episode of the Terastal where they'll do the classic "Battle gym leader" notion through Paldea repackaged as a what-if scenario of the Terastal course that the player got to skip in the game for their orbs.

Other than that the Likonime is the average Pokemon show like before.

The cat didn't really oneshot anything. It aimed the attack in Amethio's direction, and Ceruledge jumped in and DEFLECTED the attack and the storm of leaves pushed everyone off the ship. The powerful Leafage was one-time thing meant to reflect Liko letting go of her fears and choosing to confront the antagonists instead of just passively submitting to them. You can expect Sprigatito's strength to be depicted realistically (for the most part), and the strength of the trainers overall is built very slowly and gradually.

Don't go into this expecting Ash anime though, trainer battles and Pokemon catches are less common than in the old anime.

That's honestly a good point. Who knows who what Gibeon or the Journals would leave out of the story if it's told through either of them. Liko and Amethio are probably getting bluepilled.

Joining with what >>56868196 said, I'd say the first chapter of it Liko's show is good, the second one is a slug until the last episodes, the third (Terastal chapter) is the most basic material of going through gym leaders. Don't have much to say about the fourth and current chapter other than them actually exploring a DLC region and their characters which is nice.

But I am surprised that the Likonime embraces a setting where (almost) all of the main story and DLC events has happened with the major divergence point being the upcoming encounter at the lake. Would like to see an episode or two about a post-story Kieran and his schoolmates causing chaos with Liko, it's golden filler material.

In regards to Lucius and Gibeon, are you sure the love triangle thing was actually MTL? I read the character biography for Eldora/Gibeon and passed it over to someone on Fiverr who also does translation work and they also mentioned that Gibeon had feelings for Lucius, they specifically used “affection” and alluded to possible romantic undertones. Just want to make sure the exact details.

Seconding this. There's a ton of Japanese words that can be translated as "admire" in the sense of "love" or "respect," and at least one or two could be either depending on context. If I had to guess, without the full context but understanding Pokemon's deal, it's probably going to be "respect" because I doubt Pokemon is actually going to go for anything resembling a same-sex relationship.

The Japanese text uses the word 'akogare' / 憧れ

This word is used a few times in the document, mainly for these notes:
1. Gibeon admired Lucius.
2. Roy admires Friede.
3. Post timeskip Roy should become a cool character that boys can admire.

I sent it to two users on Fiverr, one translated it as “longing for Lucius” and the other as “affection for Lucius”. MTL translates it to “admiration”, so I’m not sure if it was actually MTL’d at all.

Okay I looked into it, and apparently:

So the translators are not wrong in their translation.

However, in the same document, this same word is used when describing what Roy thinks about Friede and what the staff thinks Roy should be like post-timeskip (cool and admirable).

In the original plans, Friede had a younger brother in his backstory, and this was a part of his motivation to betray. However, in later meeting notes, they seem undecided what to do with him, some staff members commenting that it makes no sense for Friede to betray anyone with the lack of foreshadowing.

And the current version of Friede doesn't seem to have any siblings, so maybe they completely scrapped that idea.

Yeah, but that's the translator making assumptions. The original text doesn't claim Gibeon was in love with Lucius. It uses the word 'akogare', which predominantly means to respect, admire or look up to someone. The translator can't just randomly decide it means love and tell people it's a love triangle.

I just wanted to point out that these documents obviously weren't meant for the public eye. Regardless of what the text actually means, the writing team theoretically COULD agree on homoeroticism being "canonically" at play, but then obviously only imply it with what they actually show. They would definitely never outright state it in the show itself, but you can imply such things by keeping it ambiguous while the writers know the "true" intent.

That being said, I personally don't think they really mean it like that in this case. But then again, when you consider that Gibeon's grudge is so severe that it's apparently still all he thinks about after 100 fucking years, there must be very strong feelings involved to say the least. The line between rivalry and sexual tension can be extremely fine, especially in anime.

The more stuff is pumped out about the circumstances the more I believe is the betrayal + brother part dropped. The closest part of discontent amidst the volt-tacklers in the final version is his inability to properly communicate with his crew and even that doesnt have enough buildup to warrant a fluid transition onto the other side. Too deep in with Lucca, Liko and his previous decisions to suddenly run into the explorers arms. The worst that could come out of his current status quo would something morally dubious that would be hitting hard but that's not something strong enough to switch sides.

as much as I hate to admit it I do appreciate Rasen posting the anime leaks because it seems like everyone completely glossed over them. Apparently they were going to bring back a bunch of old characters but from what I can see they’ve been totally scrapped. Raihan was clearly changed to Kabu. Don’t know why they kept the Hammerlocke stuff in the final release though. Definitely explains why Hammerlocke was mentioned for no reason.

Not at all. The opening is already teasing Friede’s departure. The reason for the timeskip is because Friede takes all the Hero Pokémon, effectively resetting the group back to stage 1. There’s still an Entei on the loose that no one has a clue to look out for. The Zygarde VS Rayquaza rematch from the leaks is also right there in the opening, so for all intents and purposes the timeskip could very well be the next arc.

The whole story's events are centered around her an her family. Roy doesn't even feel like he's been built up as being significant in his own right. I feel like if Roy was going to become the new captain they'd at least set him up for it. You could maybe say that was what they were doing with him interest in the ships banner and planned match with Friede's Charizard, but at this point his connection to RVT and the Brave Asagi doesn't feel any different from Liko's.

Yea she appears around the October 2022 drafts, where were the drafts made after it was decided that Horizons was going to be delayed until April 2023. Her code name was “Hikkokomori” because that’s the character she is. Still doesnt have Quaxly, but she was at least planned to join Liko and Roy in the timeskip. To be clear, the docs go all the way up to December 2022, and that’s the last mention of the timeskip.

Terastral Debut was always planned, although it was supposed to happen way earlier. They sort of switched the events around. The first SV arc was supposed to be right after the group recruit Roy, and then it leads directly into the Galar arc, then they come back to Paldea for a glorified ad for SV where some of the contents would be covered like the school, the teachers, some gym leaders, and some Pokémon. They specifically said no to the SV dragons showing up also.

As for the DLC, it was supposed to be covered in a more abridged way, in fact they compare it directly to the SWSH arc in JN. However it wasn’t going to take place in Blueberry or Kitakami, but instead Paldea.

The Terapagos Shine arc wasn’t mentioned in the docs at all. By December 2022 they only had the main plot up to the 3rd Hero (Lapras), the main plot for the Rakua arc, the lore for Rakua, and minor details about the timeskip. Stuff like the Spinel arc, Terapagos Shine, and this current Kitakami arc weren’t mentioned at all.

Speaking of the League, in the earlier drafts, Liko’s goal was to meet some super strong woman trainer from the Pokemon League that she idolizes. They said specifically that she has no desire to actually win the competition.

dropped around the time Quaxly evolved. I'll always appreciate Horizons for permanently killing Ash but this series is the definition of too much shit being thrown into the stew. There are too many characters, ideas, and plot threads, to the point where none of it is adequately developed. Because there's so much shit to keep track of, this is by far the least comfy and whimsical series they've created.

I genuinely feel like "life aboard an airship run by people and Pokemon" is a REALLY strong premise but that's not what this is.

Yep, it's a Liko-centered story. The February/March 2022 have them as dual leads, but seemingly Roy has more focus than Liko (based on what I read).

However, August 2022 document has this note:

>Aims as premise
>・Clearly show why the main character Riko is heading to Rakua with the turtles
>・Depict Riko's growth process in an easy-to-understand way and present it to the viewers
>・Leave the fantasy element of treasure hunters in the past story
>・Reinforce that it is a story about the female main character Riko, not about the two main characters Riko and Rei

So it seems they explicitly decided to make Liko more relevant story-wise. Of course, they could still do some stuff with Roy later on, but people may have to accept that Liko will be getting more focus than Roy.

I think the only way they could do something interesting with Friede that would impact the story but without coming out of nowhere is sacrifice. In other words, Friede does something (e.g. jumping in front of a blast or something) that results in him dying or fake dying (disappearing).

Honestly that Roy surpassing Friede thing is really interesting because you can feel elements that maybe set it up or parallel each other like Roys pokemon have the same types as Friede's or both being from Kanto, or their regular team ups like against Moltres and fug. I don't know if they'll keep that plot beat, but I feel like if they do, it won't have come out of nowhere.

They're both grandkids of adventurers, both are basically settled on a goal they decided to take on for their grandparents. Creating a parallel in regards to how the end of the road is only there to showcase the different routes between the two.
