Yeah like in most of "competitive online games".
At first we were playing just for fun. No loss is terrible and it's easy to give up and move on to try the next battle.

Now it's for points and for status/emblem. So many people will get mad.
Imagine if we would LOSE our points if you lost your battle... that would be an absolute Dota/Overwatch/etc. online gaming bullshit cancer.

At least with this version you will get on highest ranks eventually - it's just a matter of time but 100% guaranteed!

If I concede in one of the lapras event battles, will my event currency be used up? Because I'm trying to clear some of the stricter missions and it's annoying to keep battling when I know from the first card draw that I won't clear it.

I feel like running no EX gives a bit more versatility in repositioning your mons and being able to sacrifice them in critical moments to revenge kill in the next turn.

Playing with more sweaty players and their meta decks, if Pikachu isn’t in a meta deck with only Zapados and Pikachu EX it’s basically impossible to get any momentum with the it while “incomplete”. My less meta, but complete decks has seen so much more success even against the most hardcore sweaty decks out there than an incomplete Pikachu deck.

I feel like there should be a card for colorless energy. Like flip a coin and your colorless energy gets filled up for your highest (or lowest cost move) would be get for colorless deck and give every type an energy generation support card.

I keep saying it, but even the most meta builds of pika aren’t picking up free wins. Or, at least they aren’t picking up any more free wins than the other good decks. Pika relies on more strategy than some realize.

And yes, the 2x pika ex & 2x zapdos ex is by far the most consistent form of the deck. I was rolling with raichu before I pulled zapdos, and it was much less consistent. Seems like people are still trying to figure out which lightning mon they like to use alongside the 4 ex, but I think I’ve narrowed my preference down.

You really don’t. The low retreat costs allow you to play around the deck’s biggest weaknesses: pika’s low health and a mediocre mid/late game damage output. I find that most games require a lot of positioning and strategic attacks to pin my opponent’s field with that 90 damage, and it’s easier said that done a lot of times. Fuck that up, and you’re praying that zapdos ex will nuke something. You don’t want to be there.

I somehow managed to assemble a Charizard ex/Moltres ex deck without spending a dime. It works, but damn is it annoying to play when you get one fire energy from Inferno on average. Yesterday I played a very low power deck with Zebstrika and Cinccino and it was a bit more enjoyable, even if it meant losing half the time.

I think I’d only ever swap it out for red card but then again I’d rather have the red card. Decks and especially their trainers are so centralized that you can sorta already glean what’s been sitting in their hand based on turn 1. I used to play DBZ Dokkan Battle (ftp for ~7 years, starting from launch). Technically, I did spend ~$100-150 over those seven years, but I learned my lesson after getting absolutely nothing worthwhile each time I would spend money. My account was good enough to clear every single event that existed at the time, but I got tired of being tethered to the game’s stamina system. Pocket is a bit better in that regard (aside from encouraging the player to check wonder picks).

Didn’t help that Dokkan appealed to the fusion / power-level shitters year after year, and when they did release cool stuff, it was almost never part of a banner worth summoning on as a ftp. I despise that fandom for ignoring the best parts of the series. Shit, even Dokkan’s Namek and Saiyan Saga representation was complete dogshit for around 4 to 6 years.

Look at the contents of each pack and decide which one has the most cards that appeal to you and focus on that, don't spread yourself thin. Most decks only really require you focus on a single pack and optimal choices from another pack can usually be substituted with a budget option.

The amount of free stamina you get is limited and there's no guaranteed Lapras at the end. Honestly, there'd be tons of angry players if losing consumed stamina. Even if this was an oversight, it's a good one. It can only help the games reputation. Showing yourself to be so greedy so early on for such a mediocre reward would have driven players away

As for what they do, I want them to ignore effect damage and only take damage from the baseline value of an attack. Marowak flips two heads? Does zero because it's a base of zero. Pikachu ex attacks with a full bench? Zero damage. Hitmonlee forces his foot fetish? Doesn't work. Articuno Ex blasts the bench? A refreshing breeze at worst. Battle Armor or bust. Really, I'll take anything; I just want my precambrian buddy.

I assume the cheaper hourglasses don't refresh (or don't refresh until a update or something happens) so they stay there while you have only a month to buy the monthly hourglasses
So I guess if you want to be practical, better to use your shop tickets for the monthly ones then buy out the cheaper ones if you have shop tickets leftover over time.

The top two decks your talking about and I assume is pikachu ex and mewtwo ex is just whale crap. Pikachu ex decks at the very least have low HP's. Mewtwo ex decks are pure whale degenerate shit and I will happily concede without giving a thanks.

I'm f2p, but I started on the New Zealand release. In that time I got enough to finish Pika EX, Mewtwo EX, Weezing-Arbok, Weezing-Pidgeot and Weezing-Dragonite decks. And that's just with the initial rolls + the daily packs, I have close to 500 hourglasses saved. Don't let the fomo consume you and you'll be fine

it's already known that card games get power crept to hell and back, by the time the next set release all the time spent on this version of the game will have no carry over, and you'd be better off starting the game then and rolling on the new packs, and then that process just repeats. it's really better to just not play at all and go do something else instead of sitting on this treadmill

What if the new cards have good sinery with some of the old ones? You'll have to open packs from the new set and the old set and that will make it very hard for you to build a deck. Just open your free packs and don't spend currency, this way you can get cards and open more packs when the new set drops in january

Tentacruel is generally better than golduck, even if psyduck can be pretty strong. You still get oneshot by Pikachu but vs. everything else you're so much bulkier, and in general you do more damage between the poison and Tentacool doing 10 extra damage.

I think the water dream team is Seaking, Tentacruel, and either some water ex or Greninja.
