Wonder how they'll handle baby pokemon since I'm guessing there may be some in this upcoming pack (not the mini set). I didn't play much after their introduction but I remember them being annoying as hell and evolving them early game was pretty often a disadvantage

I have 4 accounts with meta decks on all of them & plan on bringing it all to one once trading opens up (I know it'll be time-consuming whether they implement trading equal rarity or trade energy)

A big problem is you just double support card to fill out your deck and basic pokemon being guarantee'd in your hand (so for efficient sakes you would have the least amount of basics possible)

maybe they limit support cards to 1 a piece?

because right now it's a a few basic lines + double 2 support to fill out for every deck, deck building feels lame and boring regardless of deck size

Most everyone I’ve run into has the medal and is clearly good at the game. I’m not really grinding so much as just playing a couple to see where I’m at. Battles are a lot more challenging though since they don’t fall into the usual noob traps

Yes. Speaking from experience, I've used both 2 Articuno ex, 2 Lapras ex, and one of each, interchangeably. The only difference is that Lapras has a nice heal rather than chip damage. They are nearly identical otherwise, aside from Articuno attacking one turn earlier.

Personally not a fan of the prize card system, that alone makes me not want to play. Kind of a shame though, the game itself is synergy and combo based, long turns requiring proper sequencing to get the most out of your deck. But man why play with 10% of my deck randomly off to the side when I could just play Magic- the better game- instead?

Starmie is the only thing I fear in this game. People bitch about coin flips but imo a mon THAT optimal (no rng, strong 2 stage with cheap, solid damage and 0 rc) is far worse because it punishes you for deck variance going against you. All the other turn 2 EXs have coin flip memes and don’t have access to Misty. If that thing is out early then you know you’re fucked.

there's a excelsheet on reddit you can use just go down your card list and check them off one by one and when you toggle the mew tracker it will tell you which cards you're missing to get Mew also if a mon has an ex counterpart you can get either the basic card or the ex card you don't have to get both of them for it to count

I never played the original TCG much past the initial craze so I never really saw how it developed personally, but I do remember about 20ish years ago someone at a game store I played other card games at explaining to me how it was possible to make a deck that could it draw itself out entirely in one turn.

The rng in this game is absolute rigged and false 6 ways to Sunday, from getting 18 Misty’s in a row flip for 0 energy, to rolling the same 2 rare card 19 times before getting most of the other rares, to card draw being a fucking smug bastard putting your cards in clearly a computer generated bad order.

This game is going to be free to play for me from now u til forever, you can already smell how gypped this game is and it will only get worse the longer it’s out.

The RNG is very flawed in this game. The one in many trillion odds of some of the high Misty rolls that have been achieved, somehow in the first week of the game's release, is utterly indefensible. But it’s clear to me the first 10ish 10 pack pulls are LOADED with shit, then after that the game clearly has certain ‘blacklisted’ cards that are meant to force you to keep buying packs in order to do missions. It’s so disingenuous, and it might be okay if the game wasn’t a complete crapshoot to play, the entire meta is based off of coin flips.

As obvious it is to you that coin flips are bullshit, it’s that obvious that pack pulls are bullshit once you’ve done enough. It’s also like 100+ dollars of pulls for a single full art card.

Gameplay with dice flips is geared towards children, 100 dollar cards are geared towards adults, this seems so dirty and predatory and they’re clearly lying. I hope dataminers or statisticians figure this out, I hope palworld sues them fr.

They pull shit like this and allow cheating in Pokémon vg to run rampant, what a scum company.

The entire game comes down to basic ex pokemon and Kangaskhan. That's it, that's all there is to deckbuilding. Pikachu isn't the best deck because it's fast or whatever, it's the best deck because it gets to play four basic ex pokemon. Same with Articuno decks. And it's not a coincidence that Mewtwo and Moltres+Charizard are the next best after Pikachu. Playing a basic ex pokemon effectively puts you 2-3 cards ahead of an opponent who wants to start on a Rapidash or something. It's just the strongest possible thing you can do in this game.

It's not a surprise either, it's been like that for years in the paper game too. They just decided for whatever reason to replicate it here. You win so many games for free by ignoring the entire game of evolution and energy management.

Yeah the turning a blind eye to cheating in vgc always confused me too. People were blatantly using Pokemon that couldn't have exited in the ball they were caugh in, things like that and the Pokemon company let it slide. Anyone that ever called this stuff out was seen as schizo and gave the whole argument a bad name because let's be honest, people like Wolfey for example are way more charismatic than Verlisify, so you want to take his side even when he's been caught using hacked mons. At the core of the Pokemon Company is an integrity that I don't believe exists anymore, a soul that was lost from Gamefreak when it was formed. Even if it was one of Iwata's ideas, it was a mistake. Now Pokemon is too big to fail and so they let a lot of tiny details slip through the cracks. Anyways end of my rant, and thank you for calling out the bullshit that is the pack opening as well

Working good enough so far, with 2x Eevee and 1x Vapo and 1x Jolt, I even snatched some win from PikaEx player. The problem is the usual - you get fucked if you don't get your evo line fast enough because Basic EXs exist

It’s some janky ass shit but it’s definitely capable of winning or at least threatening. I only have 1 copy of Froakie, Greninja and Erika though so it may be worth playing around with the counts if you have the ability to. Very fun deck though, the low energy cost of each lets you play around the dual energy mechanics unless the game really decides to bend you over but as long as an egg has a grass energy on it then you’re good.

The Wolfey-Verlisify situation is absolutely a huge stain on any honor or credibility that Pokémon could have. Wolfey hacks multiple Pokémon to win championships, clearly is cheating, which ruins the game for anyone who doesn’t want to cheat, and creates a decade+ long “meta” of hacking in Pokémon, and he gets a job with the Pokémon company.
Verlisify calls out cheating, cites the rules, and follows them to a T, and he’s a fucking furry, in my book he has no reason to call out the cheating, and should just hack mons like everyone else, but he didn’t, he stood up for what is actually “lawful” and he’s been punished severely. I can see comments on YouTube when they’re filtered and he has the most extreme filtered channel by far, in his chat mundane words are filtered, shadowbanned, his channel might even have a unique situation going on behind the scenes because I can’t find any other channel that gets fucked like his, and I follow all sorts of stuff YouTube doesn’t like.

I hope enough people get mad about this stuff and it makes a change, I love Pokémon but they must have some dark stuff going on with how big they are.

Only things I want from Mewtwo packs are
1 Gard

2 Venus EX (super low priority cause no Egg or Erika)

Been opening Zard now for FA waifus and saving glasses, trying to save wonders I think for EX or other hard cards.

At 450 points do I finally just redeem my Gard and Aero?
That's still enough for a 2nd Sabrina or 2 Erikas or another 3 diamond.

I could save it for an EX but that seems really inefficient when wonder and patience exists, though I need to save wonderglasses too...

I don't think I'm going to be rolling Mewtwo ever again and the points are only for GA

Yeah I think Verlisify is a well meaning individual but from the outside it's easy to mistake what he's doing as trolling and sensationalizing things, I can see why a platform like YouTube would shadowban him to an extent because of how much of his content at least back when I followed his channel was just directly criticizing Wolfey. I can see how easy it would be to flip this back at him and accuse him of being a stalker or cyber bully. Until more of the internet respects freedom of speech like here or on Twitter, it will be hard for the truth of any matter to reach the masses.

Does it work by Pidgeot spreading chip damage for Nite to cleanup?
Even so I feel that it's too slow and vulnerable, and more reliant on God hands than Weezing.
Weezing needs only 2 cards and gives you an early fat 110 hp line, and even if you don't draw Koga sacking that alone is good stall, but Pidgey and Pidgeotto suck, and having them tank a hit hinders Pidgeot's ability to spread chip, and every energy you put on Pidgey line is 1 less turn for Dragonite to set up.

I'm intrigued by your cooking, but I think it smells a little burnt, personally.

Just fyi, Japan has VERY strict anti-gambling laws against this. The odds they present in the gacha table ******MUST***** under all circumstances match the actual in-game odds.

Putting any of these weird mechanics you're implying would be retardation of the highest degree for a company as large as TPC to try pulling off. Legal simply wouldn't allow them to. If they did, they're risking not just financial repercussions but huge reputational damage.

In-battle, that's a different story. Coin flips can be whatever the fuck odds they want, it's a game mechanic that isn't tied to money. But the act of opening packs has to, without any room for error, match the exact odds displayed. Do with that information what you want. Humans are really bad at gauging probabilities, don't fall into a logical trap here out of anger at your bad luck. Statistically improbable does not mean statistically impossible. At any given time, something unlikely is likely happening to someone - sometimes that someone is even you.
