That may have gone with Brock instead, especially considering all three of them they met had abandonment issues and Brock wanting to be a breeder could have helped them get over it.

"Gotta catch 'em all!" was made up for English marketing, it never existed in Japan. Instead, they just have Ash say "Pokémon GETTO da ze!" ("Get Pokémon!"). They stuck the English phrase on EVERYTHING because it was catchy and encouraged children to collect everything, and the mindset would extend to merchandise.

I recently found out that Kasumi used a lot of Japanglish in the original language due to her being a Westaboo, from her catchphrase with her Pokemon, as well as idolizing anything foreign region.

Ironically, Satoshi didn't give a shit about leaving his region and ended up traveling all over the world.
