Their sole appeal is that they DO NOT look like pokemons, yet they are in a pokemon game, with pokedex entries, use pokemon moves, with pokemon stats.
This is exactly the problem with Ultra Beats, Game Freak went beyond to make them look like nothing we ever seen before and went extra on the design but didn't do shit with anything else.
And here we are with alien creatures which do not look like pokemon in the slightest and yet obey all the rules of the pokemon world/gameplay like any other pikachu and rattata.
They should have had new types only exclusive to them, they should have been able to use 12 moves, they should have had innate abilities, they should bend the very rules of the game and the world but these fucking abominations didn't do anything.
THAT is the waste of the Ultra Beasts, and Game Freak is impossible to defend on that, check-mate, no debate even needed.
