I'm thinking trading should be rarity locked. Being able to trade up or trade down is ripe for exploits.

I've spent about 25$ on the game and I've gotten maybe 3 different cards 10 or more times. Doing this would lock ftp players out of trading unless they put like 6 months into the game. I wouldn't be too surprised if it required 1-1 trading on rarities, but having anything more than a playset to trade is retarded.

Wonder trade was neat. You got a Caterpie 90% of the time and a box legendary 10% of the time. I did Wonder Trade Nuzlocke in Sword and it was fun as all hell. I went into the champ fight with only 4 pokemon. It came down to his G Max Charizard against my Scrafty. I used Head Smash, the Charizard died, but the recoil killed Scrafty. It was a double KO, but the game counted it as my loss. It's the closest you can get to finishing a game and still lose. In case you don't know, when you lose a fight, you'll see the enemy's pokemon standing in front of them in this shot. Since then, Scrafty has been my favorite fighting type.

I just mad the Dugtrio deck earlier tonight. Out of the 5 games I've played, I've rolled heads once. Then I got Sabrinad. The Ape/Helmet deck is pretty consistent. I broke the losing streak, though. I just had someone forfeit after their Zapdos low rolled right as my Venusaur came online.

Venu deck is not bad, I wouldn't run both Erika and potions tho.
As for the fighting ones, I like to think of my deck like this, a line of fast weaker pokemons as an opener (Primeape/Sandslash/Dugtrio) then build something meanier on the bench (Marowak EX/Machamp/Golem). A deck of Dugtrio and Primeape might have not enough damage to take down big EX pokemons fast enough.

Yeah, that's every deck, dumbass. That's the luck part. In that deck, you have 2 tutors and +4 card draw with 5 basics. That's pretty damn consistent, so it's down to luck. You could drop the Jynx if you really want to trim the fat, but that's super risky considering the deck's play style (hide the Ralts, stall until Mewtwo wakes up).

this game needs more search cards
it's total bullshit that basic decks like pikachu and mewtwo can whip out everything they need with pokeball, while evolution based decks are entirely at the mercy of the draw
i've been experimenting with blastoise ex, and 75% of the time it loses is because the game just won't give me a fucking evolution card
at the very least they should create another ball card that gives you a random evolution pokemon
obviously RNG will ultimately decide who wins at the end of the day, but at least this way you have more chances

He’s mediocre and probably not worth running. In theory, his ability threatens a damage output of 100 after attacking, or 180 if you can survive at least one attack. It’s just a lot of work to get him on the field, and by the time he’s there, the opponent can likely 1 or 2 shot him. Poliwrath’s ability would be really strong in the early game.

Relax, it’s coming. Complaining this much about deck balance in the first set is pretty funny. These things fluctuate over time with any tcg, and it’s not uncommon for a game’s launch to have balance / support issues. I’ve seen way worse in other games.

You haven't played a TCG on launch before, have you? Starting Magic, Yugioh, and the Pokemon TCG 20 years in might make this game seem like shit, but it's not even a month old yet. This is genuinely one of the best launch sets I've played in a TCG. It's very well balanced for only having 200 cards.

This. Zapdos ex is the only thing gluing that deck together right now, and once a fast pika counter or sufficient support for existing decks releases, it’s over for the deck. Pika is very strong, but people are overlooking a couple of major flaws that aren’t going to age well.

How do you even BM in this game outside of timer stalling? That isn't the bare minimum, my dude. Not making their life worse is the bare minimum. If you completely ignored them, you would be a net neutral in their life. If you open the door for them, then you're having a beneficial effect on their life.

Anyway, that's all besides the point. Make a decent community and spread the tickets to other players. Doing so will give them more packs to open and therefore increase their happiness with no effort/resources on your part. Thanking people after a match is literally the shopping cart test of this game and you've failed.

Pika isn’t all that without zapdos ex, so you should keep an eye out for wonder pick pulls. That being said, I fully expect pika to fall off by the second set. Up to you whether or not you think it’s worth pursuing.

Pike will almost never beat a double Mewtwo draw though.

Basically you have to cut Muk and you just rely on the constant chip damage. Any Weezing deck that's not playing only Dark enery has to cut Muk. You probably could try a version with Dark only and just 1 of the Greninja line if you wanted to keep Muk in for burst.

I’m a pika player, and this is correct. Pika is fast relative to the typical fodder you see on the board during the early game. It struggles really hard to clear two mewtwo ex in a game, and that actually leads me to an issue I have with your deck: no potion. Potion is great for denying pika decks valuable knockouts in a matchup where it already struggles a bit to get them.

As for mewtwo being the better deck, I’m not sure that it currently is, but I think it has a very real chance of aging better than pika as the meta changes. Mewtwo gets downplayed too much in the current meta for whatever reason.

In most games, you aren’t taking 2 full ex pika swings on one mewtwo (or at least, I’m not swinging that quickly unless I go second and have a set up bench). Potion prevents mewtwo from getting chipped into pika range by zebstrika or 60 damage pika swings. The pika win con is reliant on swapping a 90 damage swing in on a mewtwo that can’t retaliate. Barring that, there’s always zapdos ex, but (just) lol.

Just something to consider from the perspective of someone running a very sweaty pika deck. If my deck doesn’t get what it needs by turn 5/6, it’s very difficult to win without chipping the opponent into pika range or gambling on zapdos. Potion keeps you out of the relevant 90 + 10 threshold.

I think if next set has a good dark pokemon, Mewtwo will get worse.
For the time being, it's certainly the best deck in my mind.
Pikachu is easier to play and also very good, but skilled Mewtwo player will beat a skilled Pikachu player more often than he will lose imo

Caterpie is nuts, Butterfree only has a 1 energy retreat cost and can prop up your team with team wide potions every single turn while you rotate shit to set up for Venusaur. It's a lot harder to displace an Eggex that has 2 turns of healing, and with a Venusex up you're healing 50hp per turn rather than 30. Get both up and it's 70/turn.

Pikachu: I love Dugtrio and he's cute with a nice gimmick, but he does shit-all for damage with a miniscule health pool. I think Butterfree is too big an investment to be considered for any competitive deck. Hypno's eh.

Mewtwo: I'm not a Mewtwo player, but I get the feeling that 2 energy on Jynx is a lot to invest when you could have a Kangaskhan serve almost the exact same function. Muk isn't something anyone would pull for unless they specifically wanted to build a Muk deck. Why pair Tentacruel with a Weezing when all either of them do is poison the enemy? Tentacruel only makes sense with something like a Muk or Nidoking, both of which would just rather have Weezing because then your deck isn't dual typed.

Charizard: I don't think Greninja is deserving of a spot. That's just me, though. That's it. Melmetal is a retarded deck, but it's fun.

I played MTG and Yugioh at professional level growing up, and people make the same stupid analysis.

I use Charizard deck and I have yet to lose to a Mewtwofag. If you don't waste your deck space on Red Cards you really are unstoppable once your Charizard is up to five energies upon going into active. Have two X Speeds and some anti Sabrina fodder that only awards one point to the opponent and you'll be fine.

Venusaur is good but I hope you know the only way it works is an active Lilligant ramping Venusaur on the bench. It's very dependent on drawing the correct cards in the correct order. If possible I would stick with standard Venusaur because Lilligant often dies and losing 2 more points with the EX is game over. I think Venusaur EX makes a better pair with Exeggutor EX. The main priority with Lilligant is brining Venusaur online but if you don't have all the pieces you have to stall and rotate your Pokemon around to avoid losing points. It's a stall deck and you have lots of healing.

Primape is good but it only works if it's out early. I don't think Dugtrio is very good, it's random but I think I have only lost to it once because it was combined with Hypno. I have never faced Kabutops and I'm trying to get it but I think it needs to stall, something Primape might not be able to provide. The best partner I have seen for Primeape is Marrowak EX.

This guy raped me, given I did have terrible draws but he is effectively dealing 100 for 3. Nothing under 100 can hit you and survive, 110 if you have Giovanni. The problem is getting him early and keeping him alive. I can't wait to get him and pair him with some nice support like Butterfree or Hypno. I like his potential.

I do drop a Lilligant in more than 50% of matches, but by then my Venusaur is online, so it doesn't matter. I invest minimal resources in keeping Lilligant alive and only when it'll buy me a turn needed for Venusaur. Otherwise, all potions and Erikas go to the toad swinging his big dick around.
>Lilligant is bad because it dies and gives opponents a point. Egg Ex is better even though it's coin reliant and gives the opponent two points while simultaneously slowing down Venu's ramp.

I deleted the Dug deck. It was a cute idea, but it sucked. They're both fast, but can't do shit for damage past turn 5 while also being fragile. I like the Ape/Tops combo because Kabutops takes over as Ape slows down. I reeeeeally want an Ape/Vegas deck, but I haven't pulled any Boneheads yet.

120HP/80 damage for 3 is the 60HP/20 damage for 1 of stage 1 Pokemon. It's the bare minimum and can get a KO but there are better options. It should have been splashable since grass doesn't have one and his prevo should have been better.

Some people have really bad game sense, and you just know they blame it on “broken / meta” cards. Why not keep the mewtwo nuke on deck and look for another point elsewhere?

shadowverse gives a lot of free stuff daily. I didn't even play the game much but for a while would log in daily to collect free stuff.
I played hearthstone for some years, haven't played in at least 3 or 4 years though.
people would call me a Blizzard employee when I explained that you get plenty of free stuff in that game as well. at least enough to build 1 to 2 meta decks per expansion if you did all of your daily quests, and made good use of disenchanting duplicates and especially gold duplicates and keeping the regular version.

Nah the other guy can get bricked and M2 isn’t as Sab resistant as Zapdos so you can play them like energy removals to catch up. At worst you can just make it a Gardevoir race unless it’s like 4 mons vs solo Ralts and a hand of X Speeds turn 1

Basically when you unlock flairs, it only works for ONE SPECIFIC INDIVIDUAL card. So if you put a flair on a growlith card it will only be on one growlith. if you want to flair another growlith you have to use a new flair. If that makes sense.

And yes you need to equip each deck with flairs for each card.

I THINK. that's the best of my understanding of how it works.

Yeah, they both require 4 cards to combo compared to Venusaur's 5, but they're still reliant on evolutions. And you're acting like you can't evolve Lilligant and Venusaur on the same turn. With such a small deck size and 4 cards of drawing/tutoring, it's pretty damn consistent.

This is inefficient as fuck. You can let two non-ex pokemon die before you have to have Venu out there. Play a higher pokemon count.

Usually when you're eating shit in a game it's because you've developed some retarded preconceptions about how you're "supposed" to play or how things "have" to go. But usually you're just too lazy to really give something else a try. Green is full of pokemon that make Pika eat shut.

yes, i have played the tcg before. the actual game also has a (stronger) version of professor's research that is intentionally called that so that it can be an evergreen card where they reprint it with different professors. they almost certainly did the same with pocket, and named it that way for the exact same reason.

Regardless of the Petilil debate, this is the biggest hurdle to learning how to actually build a deck. If every player learned this lesson, we'd all be Plat. This is, I feel, legitimately the only time that taking a statistics class in college/high school can help you post schooling.
