2. This area's music was not in RBY.

I'm mind-blown by this info as I only realised it now. However, as soon as you step foot on Kanto, the fat guy literally tells you to check your POKéGEAR, after which you can see the entirety of the Kanto region.

This was me. I didn't know what that meant or cared. Once I saw it was the old map I thought it was cool, but it wasn't unexpected. These games felt like sequels, so really it would have been weird to not include it.

This NPC was put there by the developers precisely because it wouldn't be obvious to most players retard. It's a rhetorical question meant to prompt players to look at their pokegear to see the map change that would've just been triggered.

You're supposed to open the PokeGear when he tells you this, THEN it clicks.
The moment was cool when you got into Victory Road proper and THEN you started recognizing the locale, but the moment isn't remotely as impactful as becoming champion, reloading that save, getting called to Elm's Lab and receiving the SS Ticket.
