"Burnt out on Pokemon, but it's stuck in my head so here we are" has been the MO of this board since the Switch games hit, as best I can tell. If nothing else there was there was an excitement of seeing the series in HD on a home console (give or take) that we've now seen the reality of.

It's like social drinking and social smoking, except you can claim it as your identity because the other two have stigmas. The ideal way to play would be on stream with an active chat. There's no point in touching the game after reaching the credits. And Pokémon is conducive to this because it's a fairly easy JRPG with colorful creatures that has a big focus on socializing and giving you an in-game social group.

There's no difference to you and him as fans except you might be autistic for enjoying a game for game design reasons instead of having an ulterior motive that boils down to strengthening your image and mingling.
