The cards in packs are weighted. I have 5 Charizard EX and not a single Charmeleon. Samething happened when I was pulling for the Garde deck. I got a crowned Mewtwo before a single Kirlia. Someone fucked up with programming the algorithm for packs.

It was actually from a French friend but I suppose they always were Burgerstan’s greatest ally. I don’t love to play Articuno regularly but I did want Starmie so I could try out a more protracted build than the 18T. I threw Hypno in there as well for maximum cancer

I considered putting Seaking in place of the birds, but the nice thing about having Zapdos there is that it justifies putting 3 energy types (Grass, Lightning, Psychic) so you can gamble from the start and depending exclusively on Misty for Water.

Definitely not 420yoloswag OTKs but the amount of people i've been able to either cut off early or play 4d chess with and make them choose which of their mons get ganked is far higher than I was expecting. Thinking about dropping Gio for another red card just for further shenanigans

Frosmoth/Seaking/Articuno misty deck possibly with a hypno sleep engine. You could also go Pincurchin/electabuzz/heliolisk/hypno for an electric version but the water one is more pure gamba.

You could also/also do something like >>56888254 or dragonite/articuno/pincurchin/hypno but the energy gamba on top of normal coins and general draw luck will just make it unusable unfun trash. The water version at least can win against even top meta decks if you're luck is solid.

That said, how to flares work for 1-3 star cards?
Do you really need multiple of them? Or do you need only that special shop token?

Need multiple of them. You don't have to unlock the first shiny flair, they are just all available. They only have entering the field effects, no effects on the card. Supporters have no flairs.

Mewtwo is a meta card if you are interested in them. Charizard can definitely be built around. There's no telling how much this game will be powercrept, so saving may be advised if you don't want to spend money for the next big thing that comes out.

Nah. None of those cards are in yet, assuming every 3 months is a big set of cards and the next set of cards are Gen2, you'll be look at a while before Gen4(august ish) comes in (or they can come in random minisets/promos/whatever)

Trading is coming but they have to figure how stop people just making multiple accounts, rolling for the best stuff and then trading all that to a single account. Actually this can be easily solve by locking trade until you reach level 10, I am sure nobody is actually gonna level up multiple accounts just to be able to trade everything into a single account.

You might find stalling lame, but stalling is just more coinflips, and that's the real objective here.
Also, your deck arbitrarily cuts out water energy for no justified reason except make things worse when you have the ability of having the energy. For mine, you literally don't have space to put in water energy except with your 1 Misty that you better top deck.

Opponent wants to either drag your active out or bring something from the bench in. You put in the fossil to be able to stop something from getting dragged in, then discard it to go back with your active mon for free. It's a defense/reactive tactic.

you have 3 prizes and in a standard deck you typically lead with a non-EX while you build up your win condition EX in the back. Sabrina is there to snipe those problems early, or in some cases to bypass them and hit your engine(a kirlia for example). With a fossil you can just swap it in to eat shit and only give up 1 prize while keeping your bench safe, and if they don't kill it you can discard the fossil to bring in whatever you want. You don't care if they do kill it because EX give 2 prizes anyway, so there's no functional difference between your mewtwo dying or your fossil and then mewtwo dying.

People suck at explaining it but oftentimes your opponent gets a temporary advantage and Sabrina would win them the game by letting them kill or cripple something you're building in the back. It's often important to have 3 pokemon total - your tank, the "package" you're defending, and a backup tank in case of Sabrina. Any pokemon can be a backup tank. What's unique about fossils is 1. they can't be the guaranteed basic pokemon you get in the starting hand and 2. you can discard it later. Discarding it later matters not because you can free up space, but because the dynamic with Sabrina actually FLIPS in the lategame. Often, having a weak pokemon left sitting on your bench leaves you vulnerable to a sneaky sabrina, then they can KO your weak pokemon and get the third point without having to kill your Venusaur or whatever. A fossil can be discarded if you sense there's a danger of this. So it plays around Sabrina both in the earlygame and in the lategame, without affecting the basic consistency of your deck.

However, it's a tech that some people clearly get overhyped about. I think it's because they've never played a normal pokemon deck and genuinely don't understand that the game isn't just about mashing your ex pokemon into each other until one player loses. Too addicted to Articunos and Mewtwos and Pikachus, don't you know.

Plus, I never see anyone playing the cheeky 1-of aerodactyl? I feel like you might as well, seriously, it's free real estate.

Well guess what. Its two fucking energy. You might as well a basic with. 40 damage attack for only one cost and just hit twice. Bruxish aint ever doing shit. Factually just secured a victory with it. Being backline and frosmoth was eating away with sleep upon a arbok. He used his potions to try to stall said sleep but he ended up under 70 hp so i wouldve thrown in bruxish to finish it off. However thats more a win for frostmoth than it is bruxish imo.

I'm ex-professional Yugioh and MTG player.

I've been posting a lot in these threads.

I'm really enjoying this game.

Shout out to the Pika Anon who suggested potion in Mewtwo.

You won me multiple matches today and giovanne is surprisingly bad in Mewtwo.

After having played over 100 matches, I can say for certain that Mewtwo is the best deck.

Pika is the clear 2nd best deck, but it struggles to bear double Mewtwo meat shield strategy.

Mewtwo can beat everything. It has the best nut draw in the game besides Misty, which is solidly tier 2.

Tournament results matter, but the winner matter less than the overall records.

Also, this game is tricky and technical.

I have done many crazy things with fossils, ghetto ralts only scraps, stalling until big Mewtwo, and so much more.

The game is very difficult to play perfectly.

I learn something new everyday.

Red card is VERY GOOD but you can only run one and you must REALLY think with it. It is consistently the hardest card to play perfectly with.

Mewtwo is absolutely king now though. You stomp the random decks, you often beat pikachu, at least more than you lose.

Only Weezing /Arbok is tough, and Pikachu rapes that deck.

Additional basics in Mewtwo are absolutely god awful. Khan is the best if you want to be retarded and not play 4 basics. You're ruining the deck with more basics though.

The best deck possible right now is the following :

2 Mewtwo ex
2 Ralts
2 Middle Ralts
2 Gaurds
2 fossils
2 professor Oak
2 pokeball
2 x speed
2 Sabrina
1 Red card
1 Potion

Other basics are FUCKING TERRIBLE.

I have been playing for 4 days now constantly, and I am confident I am one of the best in the world right now, but I still make 5-6 mistakes a day, usually with red card.

I will probably play some tournaments, but I really shouldn't be playing this much pokemon game.

I'll have to play less from now on, but I swear to god the deck I posted is the best possible right now.

30 card deck will ruin Mewtwo deck tho.

I feel like Koga is the strongest normal deck, and Pikachu EX is just the most busted shit ever and needs a nerf. Make it 3 cost or 70 damage, at least 80, but 90 is far too much for a 2 cost you can get so quickly.
With Koga I feel like I have a chance at beating anyone and it's also so fun because you've got a toolset at your disposal, I fucking love effects besides unga bunga.
Charizard potentially destroys you if you allow it to get there, but it's a mind game. Same for Water and Dragonite decks, it's all about setting up aiming for the end goal.

But why the fuck is Pikachu EX allowed to exist in this metagame? Every other major deck is about feeding lots of energy to their boss monster and this one is online with 2 energies, it counters the entire app.
Even my Koga deck, made to counter Mewtwo, can still be quite slow. There's nothing comparable to Pikachu - oh wait, there is one deck. Marowak deck, its direct weakness, and even then it relies on 2 coinflips to kill it. Other than that, nothing has an advantage on Pikachu. Fucking hell, it even has type advantage on all 3 legendary birds which are also big part of the Meta.

If you play Koga, Mewtwos are free victories and you also get a chance to beat everything else (besides Pikachu unless their draws are bad and yours are optimal, if you get the timing right your Arbok kills it but that's hard to pull of when Electrode has 0 cost so they play around a lot or just Giovanni your Arbok for a one shot)

You should definitely post your tournament results here, not saying this as a ‘prove it’ gotcha but I believe you and I’m legitimately interested. I think Mewtwo is a very deliberate game as you said, and it’s a good teaching tool because of it. Reminds me how Pokemon Duel’s high elo was once populated by 2 absurdly broken decks but when proper counters got released, 90% of the people that played those decks (it wasn’t even a huge nerf on the more broken of the two, Deoxys, which was still viable but now actually beatable) got exposed hard by the people who had used other stuff and had actually learned how to play the game. That’s why the 2 or 3 Mewtwo players in a top cut can make it out of a sea of Pikachus, different floors, similar ceiling.

Is there a reason you run double fossil instead of 1 Amber and Aerodactyl? I know the Aero can be a dead draw and also demands 2 energy but I’ve had some weird gamestates where Jynx had to win me battles so I feel like it’d be worth considering for some extra flexibility

I would unironically wager EX Charizard/Moltres is the best deck under normal circumstances with people copying whatever cookie cutter deck they find online. You can potentially set up faster than EX Pikachu and EX Mewtwo, and they can't do anything about it. The only loss I have to EX Mewtwo is because they teched Jynx and shit all over my Charmeleon with a well placed Sabrina.

I'm not sure about nerfs, but in Duel Links they started banning or limiting which cards you could use with a tier system (for example you can only use 2 tier 2 cards in your entire deck, and only 1 tier 1 card..)
And in the irl Digimon tcg, there's bans about using certain cards together in the same deck.

I feel like the real counter to Pikachu is cycling around mons it can't one shot while building up a threat that can deal with it, preferably while dealing chip along the way. I'm having decent enough success dealing with it using my Greninja deck. Even with the type disadvantage, it feels like I have more than a 50% win rate.

I don't know if it still does as I only played for a few months after launch, but shadowverse would offer a large bonus to their equivilent to deck points if a card gets nerfed to allow people to ditch it at almost no cost.
Granted, pocket doesn't have a way to do that system yet, but it wouldn't be hard to do something similar.

Personally I think a better way to fix it is to limit supporter cards to 1-copy. Makes it inconsistent and forces decks in general to use either more pokemon which increases deck variance or put in some junk item cards if they insist on hyper-focusing on 1-2 pokemon. The only downside is it would hurt Blaine and Raichu decks some.

Mawile is honestly really strong as a first turn mon. Without Mawile my Melmetal deck probably wouldn't work. Do not underestimate how good that effect is, being able to delete energy from an opponent and stalling their setup can give you the time you need to set your own shit up. I have won more than a handful of games just by denying the opponent the energy they need to get going.

Is it me or is the ranked system pretty shit? It's like it barely exists, every other card came I've played had more life than this crap.
Like, you're asked to go from 5 to 25 fucking victories for the next tier and it'd all empty, a static +15 xp per won match.
Where the fuck is the reward ladder? Giving you stuff like coins and packs and random crap, the old Pokémon tcgo was like that a decade ago, it was fun.
Also... Tiers like bronze, silver, gold. That kind of stuff motivates players. And non static points, I'd love to sometimes win and earn +48 lo or lose -15, I don't know, SOMETHING. It's like I'm playing into the void.

I have gotten a single energy Misty twice, a double energy Misty once, a 3-4 hit four times. Every single of the other many times I've used Misty has been tails. Every. single. one.

being able to one shot zapdos with giovanni is a huge factor in why that matchup goes so well, and not being able to do the same to moltres and articuno is a huge factor in why the charizard/waterbox matchups are so poor, and it all comes down to 10 hp
Mewtwo EX's hp might not bring him outside of the range of obvious breakpoints but there's a lot of times you can strongly leverage 10 extra hp, and it might have some stronger implications in the future.

it's impressive how shit of a card brock is
the fact that it only works on golem and not his whole evolution line is bad enough (and it's really bad)
but the fact that any onyx card will probably in the future turn into a steelix means unless steelyx has neutral costs the trainer is completely wasted on him (also means you can't use a brock on an already evolved steelix).
