There's nothing alluding to its existence other than the assumption that since Gen 2 had a Pokemon like Mew, Gen 3 must also have one. It doesn't have any connection with the worldbuilding of the game it came from.

No it doesn't, the Celebi event in Crystal was made after Gamefreak had learnt of rumors that the shrine had something to do with Celebi, in reality, it was just put there for decoration and maybe world building, but no one still working at Game Freak knows the definitive answer.

I loved the little event that goes with this guy. It even has a special encounter with Ogrepon. I had it all happen at night in game too so it had a pretty cool mood. Seeing the little town be dead quiet at night then cuddly everyone is outside dancing all fucking weird and attacking you. Such a good vibe.

I don't think pecharaunt is good,but hoopa is carried by being able to summon muh legendaries/mythicals. The worst mythical is probably zeroara or melmetal

It makes me sad that XY were the last games where we were in the dark about anything. I remember someone found the mythicals' names by accident, and then people started trying to use Action Replay to force encounters to see what they looked like. It was a fun time.

That just means they can no longer get away with bare minimum exposition and instead have to bother giving Mythicals backstories or a role in the games. Even then Pecharunt got something similar to the rumour mill aspect you mention between Teal Mask and Indigo Disk with him being one of the more popular sources of speculation along with Timetravelfaggotry vs Imaginationfags and people making up fan designs or trying to figure out what his deal was.
