SM Anime pros:
>Kukui being the best professor since Oak, possibly even surpassing him
>Stayed faithful to the games' story while making it more enjoyable and combining elements of both SM and USUM
>Gave us the greatest pokemon scream ever. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>Jarring elements that were actually interesting, like Ash and the Alola gang being given toku outfits when they dealt with ultra beasts
>Actually gave every major character plenty of screentime without making anyone feel irrelevant, including fat boy Sophocles
>Primarina getting throat chopped
>Bewear and Team Rocket being a fun combo throughout the series
>Ash wins a non-filler league for the first time
>Stoutland episode was heartbreaking as hell
SM Cons:
>Jarring art style change
>Ash became incredibly dumb out of nowhere, almost like he was a new character entirely (he got better near the end, but still)
>Z-Move animations were long as fuck
>Some side stories lasted way too long
>Several side characters got little screentime, or were just not very well written (Lana's entire family, for a big example)
The negatives are far outweighed by how good the series was overall. It may have brought about the lower quality art style that persists now, but it was still a really good series. Honorable mentions go out to the Passimian episode where western racists called the episode racist.
