I hate the immersive Mewtwo art.
Why?
The jaw looks too ugly and masculine. Mewtwo has always been a girl to me. Fuck the Ashnime movie. I hope they make another Mewtwo later on that looks more feminine.

Just need Moltres Ex and Flareon to complete my Dex. But still haven't gotten a single gold crown card however, surely I'll get one at some point. Can't complain with the luck I've had, been able to build every meta deck, hopefully new content and even soon.

New to Pokémon TCG here. Was looking at some real life cards for fun after getting into this game. Why is there version of Pokémons who has low stats like in this game and the same Pokémon card having higher stats like attack and HP, as well as resistance typings and multiplication weakness typing? Their ability and attacks are also different despite being the same Pokémon. Is the old version just unplayable with the new ones? How will it translate to the game?

1. do pic related
2. do the lapras events since it's time sensitive.
3. maybe do some of the pvp event.
4. do the Solo Battles. All of them. Even the expert level. That will give you probably close to 40 packs or more.

Choose one deck to build and only pull for that deck until you have enough pieces. Use Wonder Pick to snipe needed Exs, and use pack points to spark missing trainer cards and basics/stage 1s.

also make sure to get 2 copies of all of the trainers in the shop asap. You generally want around 10 pokemon cards and 10 trainer cards but some decks are as little as 8 pokemon cards, one of the decks is even only 2 pokemon cards...

I think how they implement trading and how aggressive the power creep is will determine if I keep playin. I think most people have the wrong mentality about you're supposed to engage with the game. The fact that main expansions are separated into three packs is actually fairly important. It means you can narrow down to a specific subset of cards you want from the expansion, and specialize in that. The fact you can only trade if you have more than a playset of cards reinforces that - f2p players are supposed to specialize in a specific pack of cards and trade their surplus with people that specialized in one of the other two packs. Trying to branch into other packs is a trap.

Yeah, the (probably deliberate) downside of the whole 'open 2 packs a day' thing is that it means you spend a LOT of time waiting when a new set comes out to actually get the cards from it that are relevant.
In terms of free packs on offer, the amount is roughly similar, if not slightly more generous than other digital TCGs when you add everything up (76 free packs/month without taking events into account, increasing to 106 packs/month if you shell out for the premium pass).

BUT the VAST majority of those packs come from resources that the player CANNOT save/accrue over time, which is the standard for other games (literally 60/90 out of your 76/106 packs, meaning that if you save up each month, you will collect enough for 16 packs from regenerating sources in hourglasses, the only hoard-able currency for packs in the game).

This means that players can't realistically 'save up' for set releases to make sure they have an up to date deck on week 1.
They're stuck waiting for the free pack timer (and paid pack timer), probably for at least a full month, before they manage to pull the cards they need to scrape a deck together.
This pushes people towards the pokegold shop, because if you plan to actually battle from day 1 of a new set coming out without getting crushed over and over again, that will be the only option you have.

That said, if you're the type of person who only cares about looking at the card arts, having a hit of pack-opening dopamine twice a day and doing AI battles, then it's fine I guess.

No anon, you can save hourglasses. It's just that hourglasses only account for a very small minority of the free packs the game gives out (16/month)
Meaning that even if you do hoard them, you will only be able to buy about 30-ish packs when a new set comes out at the most through hourglass savings (assuming a set comes out roughly every 2 months).

For the rest of your free packs (the other 120, 180 if your paying for the premium pass), you are beholden to the pack timer.
I'm basically saying that if a new set comes out and there's a specific deck you want to build using the cards from that set, your choices are either wait for a month to harvest free packs on the timers, or spend money to build that deck now.
It's very devious.

You need to do regular 'curation runs' in games like this.
Specifically, you should look through your friend list for people who haven't been logging in every day.

So just go on your list, scroll down to look for anyone who's last log in was 2 days ago or further and prune them.
You want to keep consistent players who log in every day, since they're gonna be regularly opening new packs for your wonder picks.

I unfriend anyone with a lower profile level than 15, with more scrutiny for accounts with no emblems from the event, since this suggests they aren't playing the game as much.

It is a set of new cards that were not previously available and that you need to expend resources to open packs from.
I don't care if it's still under the Genetic Apex title, that still counts as a new set. And since it's just one pack, calling it a 'mini-set' is not inaccurate mechanically.
