Movie 2 is supposedly meant to be about co-existence and working together but the original Japanese never communicated this well and the English dub did the opposite.
Movie 3 is Shudo venting his frustrations as an old ass new father
Movie 4 has no fucking coherent message and is one of the most soulless of Pokémon movies despite the concept of a time travelling Oak,
Movies 5 and 6 don’t really have anything to say, it’s a pretty movie with plenty of pathos with Latias and Max but they’re basically an extended episode of the regular anime but well written
Movie 7 is just an extended regular anime episode
Movie 8-9 are about moving on and how bonds can change us but they never go too far beyond generic shonen “the power of friendship”. Movie 9 does go further since it’s through the perspective of a female character so you get some really good scenes and the arrow through the heart ending line of “I’m not ok, but I will be one day”
Everything after AG is just blatant ad for an event because OS-AG weren’t promoting events for the most part. It’s pretty convenient that the movies after Manaphy also turn to digital ink instead of the cel animation AG movies stuck with.
