Pokémon Legends Draconid
1. Takes place 1000 years prior to RSE/ORAS and is themed after Ryukyuan culture.
2. Starters will be Sprigatito, Scorbunny, and Squirtle, with Hoennian fully-evolved forms to boot like with LA.
3. Mega Evolution only available in post-game since M. Rayquaza is the first Mega Evolution.

Hoennbab bullshit that ignores the canonical date for people catching, thus studying, bonding battling etc was set as "recently", prior to L: A's early 1920's setting. It's a pokémon game first and foremost. Meaning players need to be able to catch pokémon, meaning it can only occur within 125 years AT MOST from the modern era (which all update the canon to release-year equivalent).

ugh, I hate that any revisit to Hoenn will probably be marred by gay ORAS lore. at least it would be cool to see Primal Kyogure & Groudon rampage, I guess.

I think it would be neat to see a time in Hoenn when the Regi golems were active, and the events leading up to their imprisonment. although that might be too far in the past.

With some dojos that are like gyms but are not type themed, but rather have some other theme
Time travel because of celebi can create some ways to manipulate the environment like in dishonored 2 in that abandoned mansion level

NotLance should be in the dojo of the thundering tempest, his ace should be a regional water/electricity gyariados.

there are older depictions of people having bonds with Pokemon. like AZ had Floette thousands of years ago, and Pokemon have been depicted as being used in ancient wars multiple times throughout the series. the Draconids are also described as being dragon trainers from ancient times. I'm sure there's more. the modern way of catching and battling was only established recently, but it's not like humans never interacted with Pokemon prior to that. the people's fear of them in PLA was only suggested to be a thing specifically in Hisui. there's dialogue in PLA that suggests there were already Pokemon trainers in Kanto.
although, I'll give you that they probably used different taming methods than Pokeballs and I doubt GF would want to rework the main catching mechanic, but still. lore!

Cool. The premise of Pokémon games is to catch pokémon, thus the games cannot be set any earlier than the invention of the pokéball, as that's when they became de facto "Pocket Monsters" - creatures shrunk down for transportation, allowing people to care for up to 6 at a time.
