There's no such thing as "effective base power"

No.56909786 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hydro Pump has a base power of 110. It doesn't matter one bit whether the Pokémon using it is a Water type, has Drizzle/Primordial Sea, has Adaptability, has Analytic, is wearing a Choice Specs, is holding a Mystic Water/Sea Incense/Wave Inc./Splash Plate, uses a Water Gem, if you're using Dondozo with Tatsugiri etc., the base power is ALWAYS 110. Do you nimrods know what the word "base" means? As soon as the power is modified by any of the heretofore mentioned factors, it's no longer the base power. Use "modified power" or something instead. If type, ability, weather or item holding status were permanent in battles, then it would be justifiable, but as soon as someone uses Magic Powder/Soak/skill swaps Normalise, Neutralising Gas/Gastro Acid or Knock Off those factors are nullified, proving that this change in power is TEMPORARY.
