This+ you don’t know how the game will run, that promo Mankey is a good example of a card that is really good, hard to get, and puts an entire deck online. Having early cards is good because we all know that everything is pivoting to digital, you’ll be happy in 5 years when you come back to this game and you have cards from the release week. Same thing happens to me in magic arena, I can put it down for over a year and come back and at least I can play my legacy deck from years ago in whatever game mode allows it.

Double colorless for normal types for Whitney, maybe something to support kingdra for Clair. He's one of my favorites, and something that like attached an energy of a different color than is currently attached could be good for dragons. The fragonite players ITT always complain about getting only one energy type

Butterfree is shit because it doesn't do what it's supposed to do. Healing in general doesn't work as a "control" win condition, because the strongest control decks all have extremely powerful OHKO attacks, or attacks which can outpace even the strongest healing. Blastoise and Charizard can both kill a Venusaur even with two Butterfrees, Erika, two Potions, etc. Maybe the Blastoise can't 100% kill through all of that, I think if you have literally everything it becomes a 2HKO.

But otherwise, the actual point of healing is to race SMALL decks. Healing can't help you beat large decks, and can help you beat and out-value small and midrange decks. Therefore, it's not actually a grindy control element like it seems on the tin. Healing with Butterfree every turn lets you squeak out an extra hit vs a Pikachu, not beat the Charizard that's been building up the whole game. And so I feel that Butterfree has no nice. It is promising that you will heal a bunch and stall the game out until you win, when that reality will never really come.

Ever since they removed bent packs, I have now become a lucklet.

Opened 7 or 8 packs and zero Ex or any rarity higher. Maybe like 1 or 0 new cards per pack. My wonder picks have also been trash, missed every pick for the last 10 picks.

Any adivise from other luckletts? I'm considering changing the time I pull. Any good luck methods youve discovered?

The actual pokemon TCG is really, really shitty. Decks are 60 cards, 90% of your gameplay is playing cards that say "search your deck for these three cards and shuffle". Literally there are decks like articuno18 where it's 4 pokemon, 6 energy (energy is cards you draw) and 50 trainer cards. And it's 4 copies of everything for no reason.

Like there have been multiple formats where the entire game wasn't decided by the actual pokemon on the board and how their damage interacted with each other and yadda yadda, but by the fact that one pokemon could draw your entire deck and that let you fill your deck up with more sabrinas, giovannis, etc. than the other guy.

I think they need to seriously rework the game but who knows, it's Pokemon, so it'll have some playerbase no matter what.
Personally I find that it launched in an unacceptable condition. The meta balancing I can look past since that understandably wants practical analysis before correcting, but there are glaring shortcomings in the resource system, UI, and availability of content/story/campaign/etc.

That it doesn't is why I play PVP at all. I don't want to see how many times I get cheesed. Like yeah I have a good share of wins but I don't like seeing myself building a large string of losses because of RNG out of my control. If it's not skill-based, I don't want to see it.

I returned to raichu, and I do think that build is going to be key for the most consistent pikachu decks in this format. You just don’t have an answer to / back up plan for big hp win cons otherwise. I like zebstrika, but potion really detracts from its value. Electrode is also decent, but I don’t think running more than one stage 1 line is a good idea here, especially when electrode’s biggest contribution is as an x speed. Pincurchin still has a place on the team at 1 or 2, I think. The slight boost to pika’s damage consistency is arguably better than slotting in more trainer cards.

At this point, it's probably about even. I have been very lucky with wonder trade EXs. 1 of the Mewtwo EXs came from wonder, 1 Pikachu EX and 1 Zapdos EX came from wonder trade.

I am not hoarding hourglasses at all. I'm using everything I get as I get it. I am "hoarding" pack points, because I have a good deck and I don't need to use them. Also, I can buy multiple "fun" decks, or I can buy Weezings. If I buy Weezings, I can't buy Kogas, and instead I could buy Machop for a Machop EX deck or more "fun" things like that. I've also already spent points on the trainers I didn't get.

Might as well use the stamina as it regens. Saving the event hourglasses *might* be worth it, but no one will be able to say for sure. The value of those hourglasses will depend on things like the trading system, value / quality of future promos, and your own luck in getting drops from future events. Hell, we don’t even know for sure that this event will be gone for good after it ends, so everything you see people talking about is speculative.

i am physically at my limit playing against every fucking deck being absolute cheese. it is so fucking easy and quick to get online. i am used to getting fucked by initial draws in other TCGs but not playing a main meta deck (currently arbok/weezing) if i don't get a godly draw i'm fucked. like skating uphill when 90% of matches are just coinflips

In my opinion, it’s not that valuable simply due to the deck size being so small. The threat of red card already conditions players to play cards instead of holding. I have won games with it before, but red card seems more likely to do nothing or assist the opponent than it is to hurt them.

I could have told you that. It’s my least favorite deck to go up against because that initial coin flip seems to almost always dictate the outcome of the game. Mewtwo going second with another mewtwo on the bench is a win against pika just about every time. I imagine the mirror is similar

When do the pack points expire? I've been working on Charizard packs for a second Sabrina, two Charmanders and a Charmeleon along with maybe Starmie EX if I can get it. The only thing from the Pikachu packs I can think of wanting is the Misty card, but I don't know if I should get two Misty cards now or the Charizard ones. I think someone said the new mini packs happen tomorrow so I don't want to lose out on my choices. If it helps I have two Articuno EXs and Moltres EXs along with a Charizard EX.

Pincurchin is alright. I never really want to gamble on it, but I occasionally keep it on the bench with one energy just in case. The retreat cost is nice, and I’m not sure what I’d replace it with that would be worthwhile. Sometimes I wish it was easier to get surge, but that card seems like it would be awful at 2. Potion is just something I’ve been messing around with over red card.

If nothing else, pincurchin is another basic to count towards pika’s damage output.

Maybe. The reason I don’t like the regular zapdos is that it’s simply too expensive to ever attack with. Pincurchin is almost too much, but the stun is occasionally my only out to a bad game. I’m open to any suggestions with deck building. Feels like we’re sorting through a lot of mediocre options while we wait for the next set to provide better ones.

I feel they didn't have to dumb down the TCG this much. I get they're trying to emulate duel links but I feel that I often lack control on a lot of aspects of my gameplay. Even something like Hearthstone feels much more reactive than this game.

Don’t sweat it. I just finished my 50 wins today after casually grinding the event. Every deck is likely to be mewtwo, pika, or articuno/starmie, so it’s a little taxing. After the 25 win mark, the only oddball deck I encountered was a blaine deck, and that’s not exactly a meme.

Oh well, I don't have really good stuff for this meta either ha.
The only fun/usable non-meta non-dragonite decks I have rn besides koga/dark stuff all involve coin-flipping in some form.

Whether its Aero or Heliop or Kingler or Persian or whatever.
I don't know where to potentially slot ditto in for fun either with a colorless deck when you need a hard colorless hitter which doesn't exist besides maybe a Cinccino deck but with Blaine and Golduck running around I feel that would still be too slow.

I'm down to experiment more with this meta but I really don't have too many cards for it.

You can discard them in the event of a defensive Sabrina (opp can’t attack but wants to save a turn or two) without losing a prize and they’re fodder that doesn’t mess up Poke Ball searches. I prefer 1 Amber/1Aero though because you get all the benefits of a fossil in addition to gaining a decent meatshield that can bail you out of hopeless games

I only spent $30~ and the pass but I have a very solid collection and I’ve seen people who spent big day 1 say they regretted it. This game is very generous compared to other gacha and it’s pretty doable to collect most cards in a set’s 2 month lifespan with just the pass and good wonder picking
