To start, I think the main game, barring the final trio of nigger bosses and Zedra from Deshret, is...serviceable. It's got amateurism, schizophrenic plot threads, and a lot of the usual pitfalls we see in bad games, but ultimately it's fine and has a lot of 2000s era charm that's clearly from a place of genuine love for older JRPGs. The end of the maingame, and Deshret, also has much better presentation than the beginning, which I think does pay off really well.

I say poor man's because it does get very lazy sometimes in implementation, albeit. Hiding an 'ultimate' item on a random desert tile or doing 500 braindead battles in a row is anti-fulfilling content.

Also be careful of the Dugtrio and Altaria boss since I think both Ashime and I can agree it's unequivocally the hardest fight especially if you're relying on Foul Play cheese (or at least the fight that can go sideways extremely quickly, other than maybe Gardevoir)

Hasta la vista, Diantha! Say hi to Cynthia and Dawn for me!”
Trembling like a newborn baby deer, Diantha doesn’t say anything back to her. Not that she would have the time to anyways – with the way Nemona’s mouth closes in on her, wrapping tight around her head – the pressure creeping in with each contraction of her throat. “Mmmhh…~”
There isn’t any use in fighting back now. Nemona had won, and Diantha knew she’d go straight to the predator’s gut, building more fat on fat for her to show off – and at this point, everyone would know that she is the ultimate champion.
Nemona was maybe – a little too interested in this one – her hands crawled down Diantha’s large, bony hips, feeling at them intricately. Studying her body almost. It sent a chill up the older woman’s spine, which physically caused her to shiver – resulting in another stifled moan from Paldea’s champion.

I've learned some things about star signs. they're kind of a secondary ability that can do things in battle and out, and any pokemon can have any star sign, at least from what I've gathered. the only in-battle effect I've seen is flashy, when using thunder shock, will also lower the speed of the opponent. outside it's a grab bag of things that all cost different mana. grifton can give other pokemon his nature, flashy is sweet scent, valvatorez can either give one of your pokemon any status or cure status, headlights can guarentee the next wild pokemon will be holding and item, and midge can also give another pokemon it's nature. idk how many star signs there are, but it's as weird as I wanted it to be
