Looking at the teraleak it’s really apparent how they don’t have any direction to their designs beyond Masuda’s “haha I wanted a diamond pokemon and a pearl pokemon I don’t really know” from that one interview. Gamefreak was just throwing shit at the wall with their lore and what they were actually supposed to represent.

This. Dialga's the Father and Palkia's the Mother, so they're color-coded as such for your convenience. Also, they're Box Legendaries - they've been presented as a male/female pair since Gen 2, so this should have been obvious.

No, Kyogre is the Leviathan. Groudon is the Behemoth. Regardless, see above - Gamefreak went out of their way to have an NPC explicitly call Kyogre female.
