The music is the real gem of Gen 5. It's certainly the 'music generation', and has been the standard that I judge pokemon music to ever since.
Black2/White2 built upon and enhanced almost everything to near perfection. And then the PWT and Pokestar Studios remain the best 'side games'.
I understand the "Pokemon Musical because BROADWAY" design decision. But, i don't know. Fuck the musicals, really. Put contests there instead. I'm not really a fan of either, but I'd take contests over musicals.
I like how the battle facilities are distributed throughout the region instead of locked behind a post-game. Sports stadiums for rematches and training new teams after beating the game.
The Join Avenue was a great way to put a bunch of PokeCostcos in my game and buy medicine in bulk. Or for EV training, I guess they could put gyms/cafes or whatever. I just had Flower Shops and PokeCostcos.
I used to hate Iris being the Champion and being dressed like a kid playing dress-up, when all of the prior champions were more serious looking.
But now... what little girl wouldn't want to be a dragon princess? It's cute.
I still like Alder better, though.My favorite games never go anywhere. And In the drought of good or even passable pokemon games on switch, it's been nice to go back to them.
