I don't hate the new games but you don't really have to work for shinies at all. I accidentally ran into a shiny Muk in Scarlet and Violet, and probably missed several more that I either just didn't want or didn't notice. I'm not a big shiny person, though, as the only shiny I've ever intentionally worked for (and gotten) was a shiny Luxio in PLA that I really like, but it's not like PLA shinies are hard. The rest have been accidental ones I've gotten in regular playthroughs or fangame shinies.
