When I was a kid, American cartoons would show wieners on occasion, sometimes they would make it green for some reason, but it was still a wiener.
The Simpsons has shown Bart's wiener for a more recent example I remember.
What always confused me as a kid is why they never showed boobies.
I guess boobs weren't considered humourous or whatever the reason for weens being fine was.
