I actually would agree with you for the most part. Which is why me and my group have made this conversion. Calling it a conversion might be a bit disingenuous though. The reality is that 5e just has a simple ruleset to build and homebrew off of and pokemon stats slot in relatively snug. Think of it as more so a costume of 5e rather than 5e proper. Pic somewhat related of how combat works.

Honestly every other system out there just didn't quite capture the same feel as the games to me. I stumbled across my current DM who made a bare-bones workable conversion and I slapped it into shape over time. You could say it was a few years worth of effort but honestly it wasn't since the effort was just playing a pokemon tabletop and occasionally spotting something janky here and there and fixing it on the spot. Surely I understand the cobbled together conversion isn't for everyone, but anyone who has seen it in practice quickly warms up to it and sees how it's different. Trust me, I was one of those people who scrunched their face up at the idea of a 5e conversion. Now look at me.

The issue comes twofold:
First, hypnosis iron valiant is incredibly inconsistent due to its accuracy, screws over any and all forms of counterplay because it's not nigh-guaranteed to happen. With spore you know it'll hit, and even then you can just switch to the grass type you already have. With hypnosis you may switch to someone you're fine being put to sleep to, only to see it miss and ask yourself who's eating the incoming cc.
Imo action should've been taken on hypnosis itself, and not sleep as a whole, but the drastic measure taken was a culmination with gen9's frustrations.
Which leads into second, gen9 is ass. The current state of gen9 at least. Many would argue, myself included, that either dlc1 or pre dlc1 gen9 was at its best, when it was actually good, but that's long gone. As it stands, tera is a terribly unfun gimmick and its implementation by gf is mainly at fault. Look at what they did in NDOU, it enabled too much broken shit. Which leads me into broken shit. Too many assholes are enabled by tera to be that bit too much, it turns matches around with nothing that can be done about.
Lastly, the amount of utterly broken mons released shows that either gf can't balance singles, or simply can't balance. Too many guys that are simply overbearing on the meta, and if they're not broken, making the tier their bitch, then at least they make it incredibly unfun, with something needed to alleviate it (except for complex bans, cause then you're opening Pandora's box)

I think the mere existence of Urshifu proves this on both the singles and doubles side honestly, rapid strike completely invalidates all other physical water types in existence because he's just actively better than all of them

Koa has very little ego. He'd be very confused as to why someone would want an autograph from him, he sees himself as just another ordinary guy. But he'd still do it, just to make someone happy.

The sudden surprise would make him flustered, but he wouldn't be able to plainly say no: Koa would rather the girl desist on her own, or insist enough to get him to give in.

While "just learn a new system" is usually the correct answer, he's right. 5e at its core is just a skill check simulator, there's a reason why it's so popular for conversions. You can bend and sculpt it any which way without messing with the core mechanics too much. It's like modding a Source Engine game in that regard. If there's not an official system for the series of your choice, any group of high school kids can sculpt a conversion for it in an afternoon.

Koa is generally well-informed on most aspects of Pokémon care, but he can be mistaken at times due to a few outdated ancestral teachings from his dad. Koa sometimes forgets that his partners are, well, creatures that reason differently different from humans, and can be confused when he can't, say, understand Chomper the Tyrunt acting out randomly. Koa would believe he's failing Chomper somehow by not instantly "grok"ing Chomper's behaviour, if anyone gets that term.

So yeah, Koa believes he just has to be "in tune" with Pokémon. Sometimes that works out, but sometimes that doesn't work out, and Koa can fail to find decent reasoning for what to do when it doesn't work out. When that intuition fails for logical reasons, he feels like he's failed. That's why I call him a dragon whisperer: he's been raised to think that his connection to certain Pokémon is special. In a way, it is, but that's more because he's a good kid and he's in tune with his environment. Koa is fallible and he has to learn to adapt the more academic knowhow of a modern-day breeder, for example. Hanging out with someone like anime Brock would actually be a good way for Koa to improve on this shortcoming.

They just don't balance. You're trying to form a competitive format out of a game made for literal children that has ZERO thoughts about being competitively balanced at the forefront of the dev's minds. They don't care about making a healthy comp scene, they just shovel out new "exciting" bare minimum slop so they can keep swimming in millions of franchisebux. It's what every low effort Asian game tries to do these days. Somehow amass a cult following with some random low quality slop they pulled out of their ass so they can continually and lazily ride it's coat tails into free multimillion franchisebux all the way into retirement. David doesn't believe in bad advice, because he learns them the hard way!
For example, when he got the Macho Brace, he overused it with his Pokémon. When he started losing, he went to a Pokécenter and they told "yeah, if you use it a lot, it actually hurts your pokémon because you are overworking his muscles."
So the time he saved in training, he wasted it on recovery. Never overwork yourself.
Another one was in Sinnoh: since the caves systems are big, people said "bring repels". He said "I can't beat zubats, no problem", but he got lost, and then it was zubats, geodudes, gravelers, bronzongs, golbats, and even a Rhyperior! He now never leaves without one single can.

The funny thing is that I wanted to put David in a soft GTA story in Unova, which forces him to leave the city relatively quickly. He managed to score all the badges, but left before leaving an impression in the Black Tower. Just one fight away from conquer it.

Emily largely doesn't follow the advice of others when it comes to training and raising her Pokemon since she and her Pokemon both develop in very different ways from the norm in terms of methodology. She only really follows more universal advice like things surrounding items and such. She kinda just exists in her own bubble. She's always online stopping malicious idiots from coaxing other idiots into trying to raise Dragon Pokemon though cause raising a Dragon Pokemon means needing to have the strength to make a Dragon submit and the vast majority of people don't have that. Especially when it comes to the Deino line. And it usually ends horribly for the stupid sod who took said troll seriously.

I'm still struggling to find what's going to be the last mon, though. There is a LOT of defensive overlap on these and I don't want to make things too easy for Weavile. Excadrill and Hisuian Arcanine are the main considerations. I am also considering Rhyperior less, but I like Metagross too much to put it here. Golisopod, maybe?

Too much weakness overlap. If I add Nidoqueen it’s going to be a replacement for Nidoking and I seriously doubt that because the team really needs a special attacker (watch Freezai’s video on Nidoking). I added Sneasler already and I would have added Hydreigon if the main villain didn’t already have one. Rotom-W would have been an option if washing machines existed in a fantasy realm. Noivern, maybe.

For the first year of his journey, Ayumu didn't know the official names of the moves his Pokémon had, or even the species of the Pokémon themselves, so whenever he got a new Pokémon, he would give it a nickname, but as soon as he got to a city, he would go straight to a Pokémon Center, and ask the nurse Joy "What is this Pokémon?!" while lifting it to her face.
As for the moves, he would just call it whatever it looked like. Moves like "Headbutt" and "Bite" were easy enough to get right, but "Powder Snow" became "Snow Wind", "Ice Shard" became "Ice Rocks", "Icy Wind" became "Snow Wind but stronger" (kinda like how Riko commands Sprigatito to use Leafage in different ways), etc. Then 7 GYMs later, he finally got a PokéDex and could look up the moves' names.

I’m glad people like Cross Rider, so while I get my energy back for Dragon Whisperer chapter 2, I’m gonna devote my next project to him. I am working on a partially animated Cross Rider intro. The song is 30% done. I’m almost done with the composition itself, and it’s got some cool Japanese lyrics. After that I have to actually put it together in FL Studio and possibly even record it myself, as soon as my audio interface is repaired.

Same. All my niggies hate cubes but a rotating cube is the key that unlocks your real potential. If you can shape a cube or rectangle, you'll be able to sculpt any pose at any angle just by drawing or envisioning a cube and then sanding the edges into the shape you want.

Not in the best headspace rn but hopefully I can finally get out the Koa Interview today or over the weekend. I think my brain delayed this on purpose because there’s some kind of lurking fear that Black Blaze will flop despite the probably excessive amount of effort put into it. This is like, the fifth deadline I’ve missed? But I at least can excuse myself due to last thread being unusually rapid. I will say, I will try to get Black Blaze finished before the end of the year, but I am also fully expecting it to release next year, and you should too. I find it funny how Archivist says that you shouldn’t fail on your own terms and that failing to measure up is preferable, only to watch me continually fail to measure up at every turn anyways.

Disregarding even that, ask yourself this: Are you learning anything? Are you improving? Do you have more to show for your efforts than you had before? If any answer is yes, then how could you call that failure? If you answer no, that too is a success that invites some self-reflection.
Lesser artists borrow; a great artist steals. It's not enough to follow or imitate what's successful, the critical skill lies in recognizing why it works so successfully. Someone else has gone through the trouble of figuring out what works best, I just need to understand how it works, savvy?
Think about what you like about the writing you look up to. You can paint-by-numbers replacing nouns and adjectives with your own words the way the bingbot shapes ideas using key phrases and references, but if you can conceptualize why that writing resonates, you can begin to write with your own words while still maintaining that theory you want to emulate. You can run your own circuit and still light up the bedroom.

Cake? Sadly no. There's a Filipino bakery in my neighborhood that I was hoping to go to, but they weren't available on short notice. No, I've gotten something even better: my Gallo beer from my time in Guatemala. Apparently it's called Famosa overseas. It's only 1/3 the alcohol content, but it tastes just like I remember. ello, i am returnant. I did some mild revision of her design, mostly just changing her hairstyle.
I figure Audrey here is originally from Galar, but moved to Kalos as a young teen. She didn't take well to the move, but she did befriend an equally lonely and misfitting Ghastly. She had a delinquent phase and fell in with a row of troublemakers. She stuck with them until a score went way out of hand. They did get nabbed, but Audrey also had a change of heart, and was offered a chance at lowering her sentence by working with the InterPol.

Oh yeah. A good friend of mine was working at the US embassy at the time. In talking with him, I found out I could get a round trip flight for $400 and next thing you know my dumb gringo self is walking through the single most dangerous strip of gangland territory in all of Guatemala City admiring the graffiti art along the dirt road. i think there's some overlap between futakuchi onna and yama uba (jynx), at least according to wikipedia, not the greatest source but i'm not gonna spend any of my time in databases when i'm off the clock. the former has a mouth on the back of its head iirc, vs yama uba, which is at the top. there's also a lot of attention paid to her tattered robes, so i thought a ripped dress with a mouth-like shape strengthened the connection. but i'm happy you like it! and damn i really want that set, but that means having to look into proxies........ I think this sketch makes her look a bit too young (she’s supposed to be in her early 20s) but here’s a first look at Ceniza! I mentioned her once or twice before. She’s an energetic dancer and a Fire type specialist from Paldea. Oricorio is her ace. I’m thinking maybe she’s already done with her travels, but she never really wanted to become a champion, so as she grew up she shifted into show business as an ambition. Ceniza does gigs here and there, but she hasn’t exactly gotten any big breaks yet, so she gets a little stressed and frantic behind the scenes as she tries to live a life by herself in Mesagoza while trying to pay rent or something. More of a slice of life character than Koa or Cross Rider (because Cross Rider is half show-within-a-show, half whatever I choose to make out of him)

As soon as I get back my compooper access, I’ll flesh her out more visually.

I think she’s gonna look a little older later on but I do like me some girls with freckles. It’s a design element I always find endearing in character design. How does Forretress tie into a smuggler motif?
Aegislash and Kingambit seem like they're only included because of meta. The former is said to only be interested in humans with the charisma to become world leaders and is the symbol of iron-clad monarchical order, its role is in direct competition with Malamar being the evil vizier/scheming vampire in the shadows; the latter is a brute whose only solution to encountering a problem is throwing bodies at it.
A smuggler that relies on order and force over cunning is a smuggler with a very short career. If he's in a direct confrontation, then he's already lost even if he had seven Mewtwo in his pocket.

Interesting picks.
Grimmsnarl is a good screen setter and status spreader. Screens work for the inevitable long haul fight while Thunder Wave slows down pursuers.
Zoroark is literally just "Darkrai but bad", so unless there's some symbolic significance, I suggest you swap it out for either the Hisuian variant (you can say that it's a rare find that he kept for himself instead of selling it) or a stronger special attacker. The regional variant also has Illusion so it can serve the same "distraction" role if needed.
Forretress is kind of washed but its role compression exists, you could replace it with Scizor if you want this team to be more offensive which it seems like it should be since smugglers do not want to stick around for too long. Or, if Forretress is supposed to be some kind of barricade, Ferrothorn is much better at that.
Malamar is a shit Contrary user, Serperior is better and SubGlare pairs very well with dual screens from Grimmsnarl.
Aegislash is... interesting. Is this guy some kind of high-ranking kingpin? It's strong but I'm not sure how he would have it.
Kingambit is good as a "last resort" Pokemon but also begs the same question as Aegislash. Ultimately though, both of them make his team stronger, so they're never *bad* ideas.

A Drain Punch is a Punch that Drains, the Punch is the orange Fighting glow, the Drain is the green particles extracted upon impact. Really depends on the tone you're going for. There's nothing inherently wrong with cartoon projections like the XY anime, if you like watching the world's shittiest wizard duels, because ranged attacks are more difficult for most people to extrapolate versus physically clamping your energy-fortified teeth down on the opponent's body until you hear the bones crunch and cut off their chakra supply. The latter hardly seems like a good time for anyone and yet win or lose Pokemon love it.
Overall, a fight scene should be a vehicle for characterization. Is this move's description distinct from another attack? Does it take advantage of a Pokémon's unique traits and features? Is that Dragon Pulse a brutal torrent of shapeless energy, or is it an artisan-crafted spear that is so focused it even resembles the silhouette of a dragon? Is it interesting to read and think about, and as discussed, does it match the tone of the story or series as a whole.
Eons in Flux is a tall premise to digest, that's why it's important that I remain faithful to the common elements of the series. The idea is that you could feasibly see these events happening offscreen when your player character gets retired to the Egg-Hatching Bicycle Simulator that most postgames become. If I were writing a more straightforward plot or eschew the idea of being lore-consistent entirely, then I would be playing more fast and loose with certain concepts. IE, a Tackle being the equivalent of a Minecraft TnT block in a more lighthearted story, mons (intentionally) aiming to kill in a different setting entirely.

I have recovered access to my computer. Here's a better look at Ceniza! I keep drawing her while turning for some reason but this should be a better view of her torso too. Your own sketches helped me come up with this more complete design (also I hadn't looked at a gitana dress for several years but it did bring back memories of when my mom and my sister had to wear them for festivities). Paldea means a lot to me as a Spaniard and this is my attempt to contribute with a little local authenticity.

Personally I'd chalk it up to less in-depth cultural research than what they did for Hawaii and the UK. Paldea isn't as spot-on towards Spain as Alola is for Hawaii, because Game Freak had their guys go to Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia and not too many other places. You can see that in Mesagoza, where the academy itself is clearly modeled after la Sagrada Familia, and right below that you have a version of the Plaza Mayor in Madrid. Regions like Andalucía, the biggest hot spot of flamenco culture, have little to no representation.

I can see why: Spain was chosen because it's a great place for an open world game. We have beaches, mountains, caves, hot places, cold places, forests, even a little bit of desert. But the culture is something that isn't very well-known outside of one or two stereotypes. Hell, I was worried the plot and legendaries would just be copy-pasted from México at first, but they decided to do their own thing. That's the good ending IMO.

If I had been there as a consultant or something, maybe I could've helped out a bit. But alas.

Eeeeeeeeh, I really enjoyed Scarlet and Violet, quirks aside. I appreciate the sentiment though. I'm happy with Paldea as it is, but it totally could've been a lot more culturally accurate to Spain. That's always a bit hard to do, because we're such a historically Catholic country. Anything culturally relevant is so obscure that we kinda have to make it ourselves, or the religious aspects interfere with a kid-friendly tone. You know the game Blasphemous? VERY rooted in Spain. But try having all that imagery in Pokémon. A lot of angry parents is what you're gonna get.

It's actually a funny story only when told in broad strokes. A lot of their kulture like the pointy hoods and grandiose titles that sound like a fantasy roleplay club stem from their Protestant roots. As a bit of a cosmic punchline, these actions instead galvanized the public and federal government in favor of reformation and exercising equal rights. People no longer wanted to be associated with the meme and the first generation fizzled out entirely. Most--most--of what we know the second generation for now would later be codified by Woodrow Wilson hosting screenings of Birth of a Nation at the White House and reversing public perception on the klan. This isn't /pol/, so that's all I'm going to say on that.

There's separate tiers of rarity involved here. There are legendaries that are so rare, like Kyurem (and Zekrom and Reshiram), that their appearance shapes the history of whatever region they step in. And then there are legendaries that are so rare that no one can prove they actually exist, like Mewtwo and Arceus's kids. As a fun aside, the Ultra Beasts actually fall into the former category and Paradoxes fall into the latter category despite not being considered legendaries themselves.

I like to think legendaries are unique, but mythicals are just a very strange race.
For example, the three Johto cats. They are relatively rare, being a roaming species. But many trainers, elites, and even champions have managed to capture these monsters of tales, older than time itself. And the bike mons are like Mewtwo: created by man. In this case, Tera Crysrals, but the source is that: they can be made by exposing Cyclizard to these strange stones.
Man made or elemntal made pokémon aren't that rare. If you can replicate the circumstances or the equipment, you could have an army of (technically) legendaries at your command, like a basic Route 1 critter.

I don't remember if I posted it in this thread or somewhere else, but my theory is that Manaphy is the end stage of a Phione's life cycle. After living its life as a Phione, it pupates into a Manaphy egg and drifts on ocean currents until it reaches the more bountiful warm seas and reawakens. The Manaphy egg we get in Diamond and Pearl being the sole outlier because it was found in a warm climate and transferred to a cold one right before it's ready to hatch. The much more powerful Manaphy then travels to cold waters, sires the next generation of Phione, and then skips town for the cycle to repeat again.

I have to say, getting back into my “own” writing after about two months, leaving off on a point where I was *just* about to get into the easier part, feels weird, maybe even a bit bad. I’m still trying to figure out the formatting (headers, footers, titles, whether or not to indent, page number size, etc) of my work as once I publish this it’s going to cement how I will be going everything onwards. As far as I understand, this Project Voltage album is supposed to be a Pokémon Center item.
So... I usually import my mangas (and occasionally some albums) in a site called CDJapan, but when I looked, I couldn't find this particular album there... However, they provide a proxy service, you need only give them the link of the product you want, and they'll buy and list it for you (which as long as it isn't straight up hentai/porn, they'll probably accept "any" requests), so I gave them an Amazon JP link for the album, and to my surprise, they declined it, saying there was a "shipping restriction". They didn't specify, but I have heard before that Pokémon Center items were specially difficult to get.
All that said, I don't think there's more than 1 version.

I mix it up some times by changing the prompt by either having it of different characters (mostly Mari and Arai) and sometimes I add a few things to Emily prompts. I'm not even using Bing that much these days, this was the only day this week I sat there spamming prompts cause I thought of which tag I can swap out to see if it gets me some different results. And it did, though it seems a bit too subtle a change for some people to notice.

Anyways, I sometimes toy with the idea of Alex having a Mega Scizor, but I honestly don't really like base Scizor so I'd be forcing myself to only ever show it as a Mega. I think it would be funny if his Scizor just got really used to being Mega because Alex can't stand looking at it in its normal form. For example, when Koa’s dad remarks about names, and Plumeria gives her name to Alex while Alex doesn’t introduce himself and gives Koa a fake name, it draws a contrast between them, Plumeria’s willing to acknowledge her past, while previously someone who doesn’t know Alex’s background would have just thought he’s kind of an ass, the “he has something to hide as well”, and specifically using “men” and “he” suggests that he has some kinds of skeletons in his closet. I know Archivist once had to explain the meaning of Phos and Franco’s names because literally nobody commented on it until then.

I felt that if you read the story with a postmodernist perspective of "this isn't actually what happened but this is what the protagonist wishes had happened instead, it lot of the weirder inconsistencies make a lot more sense. Everyone just dismisses him as a weirdo trust fund kid like Patrick Bateman and not the American Psycho that he sees himself as.

Every fucking time I read people showing they only skimmed my second chapter by inaccurately looking back on how the final action scene ended, I feel this exact feeling.

I had pushed off reading Agent Orange for some time due to being busy, but my 3D animation teacher was sick today so I actually had the day off. I checked the text when you mentioned Koa’s dad is in there. I appreciate the attention to what I wrote down in Dragon Whisperer chapter 1, as well as some
good work filling in the blanks of what the Canyon would be like post-story.

I found an inconsistency or two, though.
Maybe it didn’t come across in my interview, but that little trial is actually supposed to be the first part of a bigger trial. I can forgive this, though, because the interview was only a small part of what you ended up writing and I can see why you’d skip past that when I hadn’t detailed any other parts in that interview yet. Also, Koa is actually fairly well-versed in amateur parkour and he finds the trek through the Canyon to be very enjoyable, since he does a lot of thinking along the way. He really doesn’t need Mo-o to get around rocky surfaces or trees every time. Also, this is more of a personal taste thing, but I found the whole ”Koa and Hapu are dumb and they don’t know about in-game mechanics/Smogon” part to be kinda mean-spirited? Hell, some parts of that were written in first-person and it made me think the line between the author and Alex as a character became kinda blurred. Again, personal taste. In /tog/ some people like certain tones or types of stories and there’s a few different taste. It’s probably the first time someone else’s included my characters in a longer fanfic like this, so I just got a little bit of whiplash, is all. Also, nice Cross Rider inclusion by the end.

In hindsight though, I WAS making paragraphs too long for the average zoomer. It all ends up blending together and they misread shit. Paragraphs in Chapter 3 are gonna be smaller and more split up.

funnily enough the intent was the smeared lipstick looking like blood, not that phos would be wearing makeup to a fight but the ultimate intent was just to make something sexy/pretty for the occasion. neither of them look actually beat up since all the marks are just hickeys or bites the filter gives it that old tv screen look, it's useful for when i lean into the "hey wow look at this scene from this anime that really totally exists" bit!

Spoilers because it's about the story, although it has been around 20 years it was shown (damn, I'm old).
Speed Grapher is the story of Tokio being Sodom 2.0. Japan has fallen into a "money is might" mindset, and whoever doesn't have money is dead.
The story centers around an elite club where sick fantasies become reality. In the first episode in fact you discover elites maiming and murdering whores to make statues or sex toys. Moral has been thrown down the window, and the only one with a semblance of worth is a girl called Kagura Tennouzu. This girl can grant powers and the inner desires of anybody who drinks her fluids. Tears, sweat, urine, blood, if you drink it you'll be unstoppable.
Our "hero" is a photographer called Tatsumi Saiga. He wanted the scoop of the year, but ended up being the desperate guardian angel of this girl. His power is that every image he takes sends a blast of energy with the force of a RPG. Problem is that every shot makes him blind. He put the back blast on his eyes.
The finale is him saving the girl by burning the entire club localized under the city. Inside the club there was all the money of the country. This initiated a massive reset in Japan's economy. This was known as the Roppongi's Crisis.

I do think your paragraphs are noticeably a longer on average, but they're not SUPER long. Just be more conscientious about making longer paragraphs.
I think the main thing that makes your writing hard to follow is the placement of your images. Key word here being "placement". The way you insert the images is very sloppy and rushed, you don't even bother to try to integrate them into the writing, which leads to moments such as this that are immersion breaking because of a huge break in the writing. You're just flat out interrupting your writing to show an image. I HIGHLY suggest hyperlinking images into sentences, but if you autistically insist on putting them front and center, at least try to scale them and wrap them around text.

Anyways, there's several examples like this throughout your writing where you just seemingly forgot or didn't care to integrate the images more seamlessly into the writing, leading to several pages' worth of deadweight loss. I'm not trying to be critical here, but this gives the impression that you're not a very good editor. Just fixing this one issue alone would make your writing easier to follow, as you'd no longer have quantifiable gaps in your writing. I'm aware that it can come across as arrogant to directly compare writing in this way, but you seem genuinely unaware that this is even an option available to you. Also, I find it funny how you blame zoomer attention spans on this when I'm the only zoomer here.

This is how I'm formatting the start of the novella. Is this too cluttered? Chapter starts are like this as well. And it should be noted that instead of my usual breaks, each scene transition is marked by the time. Obviously, none of this, except for the title, is what's actually going to be written.

Talking about this thing is kind of funny, because I've never actually been diagnosed with any mental disorders, but I'm almost certain that I have OCD. It's why I often post edits of my work after uploading it for the first time. I always want to have accuracy and grammatical correctness. If you wish, I can replace the paragraph about Koa being tired of the Canyon with something that either you or I write. Anyways, I often delete and repost posts as well due to my OCD, and since this thread is slow, nobody usually notices.

If you define every itsy bitsy little stepping stone as a success, then of course you'll be succeeding all the time. Simply making progress is a very broad definition of success and I don't think it works for most people. You can have more to show for your efforts, but if others aren't responding in a manner that would suggest so (i.e attention), I wouldn't call that success. Box office bombs still often take a lot of effort and creativity to develop, but they still aren't critically received well. You succeeded not because of your hard work but because you managed to garner an unparalleled fanbase within this thread to the point that you actively make all other works look worse in comparison. The journey isn't the success, the destination is, and sometimes you fail to reach the destination. Yeah, I might have reached 30K words and am on track to publish the longest singular work in the thread's history, but what good was all of that work if it doesn't make a splash? If I aim for critical reception and don't get it, wouldn't you call that a failure?
