take the other two "core" types for example, water and grass. they're not just elements, water represents an entire ecosystem full of unique forms of life, and grass represents plants which include thousands of different species. there's a lot more to take inspiration from that stay true to the type without just being elemental animals. like a fish isn't just animal+water, it's an animal that lives in water.
